More misused phrases - caring less

When you can't be bothered about something, or it's beneath your notice or interest, you say, "I couldn't care less." That n't is really important. It means there is no level of caring below the level you feel for X: your interest in the matter is at absolute zero ( Read more... )

I'm grinning because it's one of my peeves too. I try not to grump too much about language, but that one irritates me. It does not make sense! Please stop!

I also get ridiculously annoyed when people use 'wonder' instead of 'wander', and end up wondering lost in the wood, which leaves me sincerely hoping the wolves will gobble 'em up. I can get terribly bitter at times *g*

There's far too many of these phrases that have been altered to the point where they make no sense, yet people are too stupid to get it. I do seriously wonder why the human race doesn't die out through stupidity... oh wait... ;-)
