Mistborn (Sanderson)

(3+/5) Um. So. I thought I was done with epic fantasy. But, you know, there's the Wheel of Time, which I am physically incapable of reading more than a quarter of a book of without dropping it in sheer and utter boredom, but which I have vaguely fond memories of, in that sort of "oh, yeah, I used to read that" sort of way. The latest WoT books (the ones finished by someone other than Robert Jordan) have improved a lot. Could be worth taking a look again.

I was certainly favorably impressed by Sanderson as compared to Jordan, and that almost made me want to look at Sanderson's WoT books. Except that I presumably would have to have an idea of what happens in the other books to enjoy it, and I stuttered to a halt in the tor.com recaps around book 6 or 7. Maybe I'll find a wiki summary :)

I think there's a summary at the start of the new books. Without the bloat, getting the plot into a page or so didn't take much doing.

Hee. That's... a little funny, actually.

Almost you convince me to check it out... once I'm done with the Mistborn trilogy, if I'm still game for epic fantasy, I'll go look at them.
