I've been away for a few days, to celebrate midsummer. Midsummer is one of Sweden's biggest holidays, along with Christmas. The funny thing is, we always eat kind of the same things at all our festive occassions. On Christmas Eve we eat sill (pickled herring). On Easter we eat sill. On midsummer's eve we eat sill. We other things as well, but sill ( Read more... )

Swedish midsummer sounds a lot like the Finnish one. For us, though, it's more like permission to get very, very drunk (I don't know if it's like that for you guys!). What's the Swedish word for midsummer? It escapes me (as I suck at Swedish) and it's now bugging me. :D

But yes, we also like sill (silli, as it's called here) with our new potatoes. :) Actually I just had some for the first time ever yesterday, I haven't liked the fish much before and really the texture still grosses me out, but it was okay with the potatoes. :)

Anywho! Glad you had a good time and sorry about this rambling comment. :D

And the Danish one! Except we spell sill 'sild' and schnaps 'snaps'.

Hee! Something we can agree on across the bridge! :p

Haha, I was actually just listening to this one playlist on my ipod with music from when I was in high school, and Drömhus came on. You know that, 'Vill ha dig' song? I remember 'singing' along to all the parties, without having a clue what she was saying.

He is! He's fabulous. I love that he without hesitation describes his nipples. A perfectly natural thing to do. :)

I really hated the pilot for TRUE BLOOD. Huh. I have read all the books, which I adore, but I thought the pilot was deadly slow and generally poorly acted.

Just goes to show how different opinions can be! (grin)

I always think it's difficult to have a good opinion after just one episode - I hated the pilot of SPN when I first watched it, for instance. But this one intriguied me and made me want to see what happens next.

Yep, exactly the opposite reaction from me! I loved the Supernatural pilot. It's funny how differently we can react to things.
