I think Indonesians are the closest ones to Filipinos not just in terms of the physical but also in linguistics. Bahasa sounds a lot like Tagalog and the sentences structure is almost the same (although the former is much simpler).

Yeah, there are a lot of similarities in terms of language as well. There's "selamat" and I see a lot of "buka" (like our "bukas") signs in McDonald's. Apparently, even "child" for them is "anak". Pretty cool.
