It was a wonderful and much needed break from the daily grind.
It is really nice, however, that I have Monday off too.
"Why" you ask? Duh, first day of hunting season. We have the day off thanks to the male obsession with finding a buck with antlers large enough to prove their manhood. :)
So what does this say about the state I live in?

In all seriousness, the population of deer in PA is dangerously high. If not for the hunters a good deal of them would starve to death or be hit by automobiles.

Honestly though, you have to admit having a whole day of school off for it is a little much!

The best way to think about it is as self-reliance. Hunting is an expression of independence, where one can provide for his or his family's substantive needs without having to rely on anyone else. Furthermore, success depends entirely on one's own tenacity, patience, and skill.
Any hunter that brags about getting a nice buck should ask themselves how the physical characteristics of their game has anything to do with their own involvement. Most hunters fell the first legal deer that enters their crosshairs and call it a day.
Passing the positive aspects of the practice down to one's children makes sense to me, so why not let the aspiring young 'uns have a day off to go hunting with dad?

Graheim has relatives in western PA. They have videos that stalk deer.
