“Do you think it was wise to let a non-magical person in to tour the school?”
“But is he non-magical?” was coyly answered. “I did research on him when he first applied for permission to tour the school. You know that the avoidance spells shield awareness of our community. Yet Young Mr. McWeynish, interesting name that, found us.”
“And yet he doesn’t have a magical aura.”
“Cornelius scanned him. There’s an aura there that’s under suppression, has been since childhood in his opinion; and this is the best part, it’s purple.”
“Purple?! Suppressed?! That would make him ... but why?”
“Seems he was orphaned at a young age. He knew his name but his parents were Mamma and Papa. His parents, if they were his parents, were killed in a freak car accident and the child in his car safety seat was thrown from the vehicle before it exploded.”
“So it’s possible the suppression was a safety measure put into place because he was being raised outside of a magical community.”
“I think so, yes.”
“And the longer he’s inside of a magical community, that suppression will be weakened. Oh you sly fox, Augustus. How are you going to keep him here long enough to not only have the suppression spell cease but convince him to stay and be trained in whatever his strengths and interests are?”
“Still working on that. I can feel you’ve recovered, so do continue on with your stimulating brainstorming.”
“Is that’s what we’re calling it now. I thought we were fucking.”
“Fucking my brains into order, so ideas come together.”
“Uh huh,” Vandal huffed, “I live to serve,” and laughed.
“And do it so well. There! Right there!”
