It kind of begs the question whether a snake shifter baby would nurse like a mammal or be more reptilian and just start swallowing small animals whole. I mean, technically he was laid like an egg, just the egg stayed behind . . and looks like a snakeling.

I'm going with the Sherlock Holmes story of "The Scarlet Band". Snakes drank milk. But one should also remember that Andy is very human and Newt will have some characteristics from him.

If Newt were in human form he'd nurse at this age. *nods head* It's either that and/or (cause it tickles me to have Andy doing this in the middle of the night) Andy will be out hunting crickets for Newt.
Luckily Newt is small enough to put in a pocket with button down placket so he doesn't fall out.

Just remember what happened to Ren when he was put in a pocket.

Also i can see Andy getting mad at Simon for sneaking sugar coated crickets to the baby.

*coughs* That white stuff that crickets are powdered with is calcium for strong bones and teeth (if teeth are part of the normal package of the one eating the crickets).
We asked a pet store employee for a time and we asked why they were white.

SIMON STOMPED OFF AND LEFT HIM *glowers at Snake-man* that is no way to treat your very pregnant lover! You don't deserve the blanket and better do some world-class making up to your little family!

I felt bad having Simon acting like that but evidently the transitioning part of labor isn't just for the childbearing member of the couple. Transition in labor is marked by the fight or flight, and often both, feeling.

I haven't been here in a while and this is what I come back to? I want Simon to get his comeuppance, but carrying the guilt that he let a huff keep him from his lover when his son was born, will be a heavy burden. Even heavier if Andy doesn't lay on a guilt trip. Simon might wake up from nightmares where everything didn't go all right.

I hope Simon is searching the park (or wherever they were) right now, worried. How long before he thinks to look in at the hospital.
