Today was very nice--I went to see Julie & Julia (and thought it was darling and so enjoyable) with Mom and sister and Mom's sister and Angel and Angel's mom, then did a little exploring with Angel (farmer's market = disappointing) then we went to my house to make pretzels. Which were also disappointing. Pretzel dough has, what, four ingredients ( Read more... )

Oh man, I bumped my mouse and just erased my entire comment *facepalms* But anyway, as I had just finished saying, we make a truly delicious pretzel for Avenues; it gets dipped in this caustic solution and sprinkled with lava salt and it bakes up like a red-black jewel of Nom ( ... )

Aaaaaw, bad mouse!

Dude, that pretzel sounds amazing. Why don't I live in Chicago? (oh yeah, it is because I hate snow).

And YET AGAIN I wish that we lived in visiting distance! I would be all over that swap. Isn't that apron design awesome? So simple and obvious, yet so brilliant! Although it's all based on measurements, so theoretically I should be able to make one for anybody, once I've gotten a feel for the pattern....
I go through craft cycles--I'll get obsessed with doing lots of crafts for a while, and then for a while I'll spend all of my free time reading, or all of my free time being really focused on RPing, or something. But man, browsing craft blogs? that is a recipe for mad craft sprees! I am a crafty wench :P But if there's ever a crafty thing you want...although doing crafts on a schedule is not my strong suit, so you might get it, y'know, a year or so later ( ... )

I loved Julie & Julia too. Meryl Streep was just amazing, and now I want to go find books on Julia Child.

But I never seem to realize how tightly wound I am until I am on the verge of a panic attack--usually I fail to see the cliff until it's too late, and I just go zooming over the edge.

Word.

I would recommend drinking tea (especially green tea) because I find it miraculously calming, even with black tea's caffeine. Tori's suggestions of keeping yourself really busy and exercising are both great too, of course.

Me too! I was never interested in her before, and now I have this mad impulse to run out and get a bunch of Julia Child biographies (but, however much I enjoy biographies and memoirs, I hardly ever read them--two or three a year, at most--so I have a shelf of unread biographies....)

I really need to get into exercise as a de-stresser. I am one of those awful chronically anti-exercise people--hate exercise, hate sports, hate sweat, etc. so while I love how I feel when I've been exercising, I never enjoy the exercise.

Except for the deeply embarrassing spastic white girl dancing with my iPod blaring :D

So was I correct in guessing that the movie completely fails to mention the fact that Julia Child worked for the freaking OSS?
