Speaking on the Spectrum

One of my goals for this year (and I know the year's half over, but it's been a while in the planning) is to start a group at our library for folks on the autism spectrum and those who love them (family members, friends, etc). I like the concept, but I'd order the meeting as

Intro
Presentation
Specific Topic Discussion
Open Topic Discussion

Open Topic Discussion will expand to fit the time available, and if you put it first you'll never get to anything else.

One person will end up running it, and will inevitably experience a great deal of pressure because no one except perhaps immediate family and close friends will be dependable to come up with anything. You saw my experience with the poetry circles and maybe understood I had prior, I've had more since and it says the same thing. Don't overdo the giving, and you're a giving person. I'm a sour old man and I'm practicing it. So there. Half seriously. I went from the poetry groups...no three of them, that's right...to Guild Leader for 4 years. I'm insane. Don't follow that trail forever, you'll go bald like me. 8]-
