Roller rinks scare me. I broke my wrist in one after being pushed down by a member of this group of kids who'd been acting up the entire time we were there, and the staff didn't do anything. You'd think they'd want to call the police just to cover their own asses.

I'd be pissed about the hospital, too, but at least your son's okay. I hope he's not too banged up.

For one of the most well-developed nations, with cutting edge medical technology, we have one of the worst health care systems. I used to think that it was just that the nurses and doctors were overworked and the hospitals understaffed, or that it was just Massachusetts. However, I've lived in four states, and emergency rooms consistently rate poorly. My daughter, for example, has had a dairy allergy and a seizure disorder since she was a newborn, so I've been in a lot of ERs. Her condition remained undiagnosed for six months, and the admitting physician had written on her charts that I should be monitored (you know, because shaken baby syndrome looks so much like epilepsy). One time, it took for her to have a seizure in front of a waiting room full of people for the triage nurse to put her on the fast track after waiting two hours.

I'm sorry L. The ER always seems to be awful. They should have done more. The police too. Although sadly I can see both the Hospital and police acting the same way here. And similar situations with my siblings and other kids have gone on before, and we/my parents had the same sort of response from people that should have done things. But nothing ever was done. It's so frustrating. Why are you paying these people money and taxes for services they refuse to do and perform? Grrr.... Anyway I hope Steve is alright.

I finally got my computer to let me on LJ, usually it closes and i can do anything with it. I hope you've been well, besides the stress which isn't good. I've missed ya!
