I have been tagging old journal entries, and as I look back I realize patterns in my life that I don't think I would have ever observed without keeping a journal for these past seven years

I like looking back on old entries regularly -- mostly because my memory is absolutely awful and if I didn't have this journal, I'd be drawing one big blank. Oddly, if I do things I forget them, but if I read about them I remember.
I've only had this journal for three years, but I started it at an age where most people change quite a bit in a short timespan. I do think I've grown up in some respects, but in others I may as well still be 16.
It's fascinating to have several years of your life written out in one relatively small, easily-accessable space, isn't it?
