Why I sometimes hurt characters (or kill one off, even): Because I really dig seeing conflict and resolution. It's part of the whole writer thing, not to meantion, the constant reinvention of existance according to overcoming new conflict has been how I lived my life. I dont' nesciarily want my characters to hurt, I want them to experience
