[Dominic's not too concerned with the recent event. Rather...]

I have something I want to ask you.

Oh? Always so curious, aren't you? And what might you be after now?

... Did you ever mention my name to a girl named Rita Mordio?

[...Ah.

This world is too small. But perhaps...perhaps this will work. He is attempting to sever his ties to Rita. Perhaps he can manage to make Dominic hate him as well. He does not know how, not quite yet, but there is an opportunity to be made.]

I have not. It is not difficult, however, to derive your connection to Mister Vincent, and through him myself. You are aware of this, I hope?

Oh, I don't know. I don't think I would taste all that good.

Oh, I am sure that is a matter of opinion. The carrots might like you far more, after all.

What picky carrots you have.

If someone such as, say, you are allowed to be picky, Mister Vincent, I do not see why we can't extend the carrots the same courtesy.

But the concept of 'you' is so entirely subjective, isn't it?

[...Ah.]

I do doubt the vegetables care which 'you' I might be referring to, Cheshire Cat.

Ah, even vegetables must have their cares and troubles. [He licks a paw.] What do you suppose they consider all day long in their fields as they await reap and slaughter?

I doubt the proper answer to that question would be 'you', in any of its forms or subjectivity!

[ he was feeling a little bored; banter with this guy was likely to amuse him at least briefly. ]

If that's the case, we must eat or be eaten, right? But I can't imagine that being so. Humans aren't composed of the same vital nutrients as vegetables.

[Then both of their goals have been met.]

Oh, our options aren't so limited. We are always capable of eating cake, Mister Izaya. Though I cannot speak for the vegetables.

Despite their differences outwardly, human beings all taste more or less the same. Or so I would imagine.

Choosing cake over vegetables is okay on occasion certainly, but there's no substitute for proper nutrition.

Such certainty could be concerning.

[Do you eat people, Mister Izaya? >:]

Oh, I am certain there are a number of substitutes. Such as an unhealthy diet, for one~

Though perhaps not an even substitute, they are a substitute all the same.

You would like me to eat something while it is still alive? Why, that would make me no better than a Chain, wouldn't you say?

[Glare. Glare. Glare.]

There are always the ones that aren't moving!

Are they no longer alive, then? Simply because they have ceased to move?
