It's like Western hemispheres to consider it as self-evident that all of their species must be like them.
Or they blame it on their "under-developed" genepool / culture when they suddently behave differently.

One can even take notice of this if he watches humans in is own culture: Not everyone is like everyone.
Depending on what you put into him and which circumstances you surround him with - good conditions to survive or bad conditions to survive -, you are able to receive a spoiled brat, a mentally crippled adult, a reasoned one or a criminal who takes everything he needs by force.

This sounds as ridiculous as wondering why a peaceful human changes when you put him into war - different environment, different demands, different behavior.

When a mind is challenged with the task to save his own skin, his instincts are going to lead him to what ensures that.
