I LOVED that mini-series! I also loved Band of Brothers, and Generation Kill, and The Pacific, and wait, what else have they done of note?!

Angels in America and The Corner come to mind? Also Mildred Pierce coming up with, I think Kate Winslet to star? Not too shabby.

The acting was amazing!

Remembering how easy we have it--so true! Even the wealthy had to deal with elements of life that we would find intolerable. I loved how they kept their marriage alive during long separations with letters, too.

I don't think that mini series made it over the pond but I'll check for it online now as- I too am a real history nerd.

Have you read the Diana Gabaldon series of books - Outlander - I know some consider them historical romances but her research is excellent and her main characters of Jamie Fraser and Claire are my favourite of all times. It was a fascinating period in history for both sides of the atlantic.

Oh, I think you'll love John Adams. The scenes with Adams and Benjamin Franklin at the French court are especially hilarious.

I haven't read the Outlander books, although I've heard of them, of course. I'm going to need some beach reading soon, I might have to check those out! I'm always on the prowl for something new!
