Its $3.09 per gallon for regular unleaded here in the Chattanooga, TN area. From what I saw on tv earlier, it's $6 in Atlanta. Only 10-ish % of the US fuel production is done in the Gulf of Mexico.

Should that 10% actually hurt so badly?! Where in God's name is the other 90%?!

Who needs a car. They suck anyway.

the reason its so expensive, is that there is two pipelines that run from the gulf up the southeast and up the east coast. they are the two main pipelines that pump the majority of gas to the gas stations. they both closed due to the hurricane. thats why its so expensive. most places will run out, most mom and pop places will because they don;t have the ties with the major oil companies that bigger gas stations have. these ties will get them gas faster, but still it won;t be enough to combat the rush of people filling up before they run out.

Our gas in Green Bay, WI dropped today to $2.99. That's good, at least it seems to be dropping instead of increasing more and more.
