The NHL free agent signing window opens in less than an hour. Scott Howson and the Blue Jackets are under a lot of pressure to sign some quality players ( Read more... )

Don't be surprised if we make a run at Rolston, since he's not going to Tampa, or Huselius. I could also see Mara or Rosival here.

Rolston would fit in with Hitch. Oh, I forget to mention Rosival.

I think they're going to make some big offers, and someone is going to go elsewhere for less, while someone else will not. Is that vague enough :)

It's a big signing period for the franchise. They really need to make a commitment and get some players here who will take the team to the playoffs.

i was just about to make a post in the community. i'd like to open discussion about the FAs but it seems only a select few post anymore.

what do you think about RFAs? i've heard different things (via lurking on metroboards) like patrick o'sullivan from LA might be tendered an offer sheet. i think he has some potential as well.

this is definitely scott howson's time to shine. and screw adam foote. that is all.

The Kings are loaded with young talent, I have no idea how they're going to be able to keep them all unless they have a long of long term contracts. Maybe explosivo can add to this?

I wonder if anyone out there is going to make LeClaire an offer.

i've heard that the jackets will match any offer for leclaire, unless it's an outrageous amount. also, i looked at a site that said we were still $20M under the cap with 18 or so players signed. so hopefully we will be spenders this FA season.

on the same site it said leclaire is eligible for arbitration this year, but i don't know if it will go that far. did you know leclaire's agent represents filatov as well?

If it's outrageous, they can get up to four first round draft picks. I'll live with Norrena and Mason for that :)

And a trade has been made.

The Blue Jackets have traded forward Gilbert Brule to the Edmonton Oilers for forward Raffi Torres, The Dispatch has learned.

I'm pleased with the Commodore signing (despite the tone that may come across in my post). The problem is, that had better not be the end of it.
