He worked with the Beatles first and was involved with some of the more interesting technical aspects of their recordings, iirc. So sad.

Yep. I seem to remember that he was the one who came up with double tracking aka flanging (that's what John called it) and a few other technical innovations although I could be very wrong. I'm really bummed that I missed him at Fest for Beatle Geeks last year.

He was trying to get a book published toward the end, not sure if it was released in more than a limited edition. If I recall right they nicknamed him Normal :)

got my festforbeatlefans catalog yesterday. i also had no idea that louisville does a festival with a ton of tribute bands every memorial day weekend.
