Overmedicating ADHD

Everybody loses their keys once in a while... everybody sometimes has trouble focusing on a boring book... everyone occasionally forgets things, or leaves a room messy, or daydreams in class. So that means ADHD is a fake diagnosis, right? People with ADHD are normal; they just need to be more disciplined... or do they ( Read more... )

Yes. That bothers me too. I agree a lot of things like ADHD are extremes on the bellcurve, things most people experience to some degree. I think autism is something like this too, in particular a lot of stereotyped "traits of autism" I've seen plenty of (non-autistic) people do. Hand-flapping, for one. Nearly everyone seems to flap their hands if they are excited enough. Anyway, good post.

Yep, and typical little kids stim, and typical nerds lecture about pet subjects...

Autism's really not so foreign as they make it out to be. If they insist on saying we're puzzle pieces, they're going to have to admit they're at the other end of the same puzzle.

As a person with multiple issues and diagnoses, I like everything you have to say but I feel a need to present some contrast. I was labeled "emotionally disturbed" and "neurotic" at 11 or 12 and institutionalized ( ... )
