True Grit, good stuff

Feb 12, 2011 19:06

Due to some magical alignment of planets, I got Scout, who previously refused, to agree to go see a matinee of True Grit today.  Coinciding with this bit of good fortune was the temperature going in the right direction for once.  We've been ass-cold all week and getting into the forties felt balmy.  Sad, sad world.  Anyway...so we walked to theater ( Read more... )

Hehe, I see you found another layout =) Awesome!

True Grit sounds fantastic. I'm not generally one for Westerns, but I adore strong characters. I'll have to add this to the list of 'moves to see eventually'...LOL. Luckily, there's a theater right across the street from me, so if I ever have any extra money, I won't have an excuse not to see some good flicks.

Congrats on finishing the chapter! I wrote some IY on a whim this afternoon, so maybe I'm not as far out of fandom as I thought.

Good luck getting the goods from your galpals about what's going on. Hopefully it's nothing too bad :-/ but it sounds like your husband's firm might be on the 'right' side of this one! :P

Yes :) I found a Valentine's themed one I liked.

Thanks! Fandom has a magnetic ability to keep pulling people back in. Fun that you dusted off the IY muse for the afternoon. Perhaps it will make more regular appearances :)

I certainly hope so - I have quite a few things that need to be completed over there! :) It was fun, so we'll see what happens.

Congrats on finishing the chapter. Great stuff as usual.

I probably won't see True Grit. I saw the original with the Duke ("Bold talk for a one-eyed fatman) and loved Maddie threatening everyone with her lawyer. I am not sure that I could sit through a remake.

Thanks!

I never saw the original, so I don't have anything to compare. Maddie was pretty kick ass in this version :)

I don't think I'd mind watching the new one. The female in the older version grated on my nerves, but I've always loved John Wayne. I bet Jeff Bridges did a great job.

Jeff Bridges was great. He plays a great, realistic drunk.

I've been on the fence about seeing True Grit. I just can't see anybody else playing Rooster Cogburn's part but John Wayne Everybody I know that has seen it says its really good movie, and Jeff Daniels is wonderful in it. I'll probably see it.

I can't believe you haven't watched a full episode of South Park ( love it ). I sometimes can't believe what the creators get away with in that show.

If you go, I hope you like it! I never saw the first one, so I had no preconceptions. It is a good flick though.

I keep meaning to watch it because my kid is so into it...just haven't yet.
