Not a rat

Squirrels. Evidently, a crack team of alpha squirrels invaded the house this morning, waking Butch but not the lazy, lazy cats. Furious scrabbling on the roof, then across the ceiling and down the walls, then an indignant squeak, loud chatter, and more scrabbling as the team beat a hasty retreat. Butch looked out the window just in time to see the ( Read more... )

We just saw a crazy big squirrel hauling ass across the street today! And I saw a giant hawk swoop right by overhead while I was in the backyard. I like nature up to a point, but there has been entirely too much nature today.

What brand of pest chaser did you get? I've seen the ads for Riddix, but I've heard no actual testimonials (and I want to make sure there are no more dead squirrels turning up in my garage).

I'll check. I admit to being very skeptical at first, but if the thing works, I am happy to be wrong.

It's the Pestacator. They say it's safe for pregnant ladies, too.

Thanks. I'll look into it. Seems they have mosquito traps, too, and those things eat Clare alive.

Yaaaay! I mean for the driving-forth of the squirrels, not to the squirrels themselves. Squirrels are just rats with good PR.

I don't think I would think this if they were playing in my house, but otherwise, squirrels are *totally* cuter than rats.

I used to think so, but LA squirrels are brawny, pushy assholes. There's one that used to destroy our balcony plants and menace my cats, and when I'd try to shoo him away (I know it was a "he" because it had HUGE balls), it would jump into the lemon tree and growl at me and sass me. Asshole. There's another one that hangs out on top of the clothesline in the back and fake like it's going to jump on my face, claw out my eyes, and chew off my nose. Antisocial rodent dickheads, the lot of 'em.

Oregon squirrels are smaller and cuter (I've heard), but I don't have much squirrel goodwill going on right now.

Evidently CA squirrels are much ruder than NY squirrels.

I even feed them separately from the birds, when I remember to put feed out. There's something so cute about the playful little beggars and thieves.

Except when they are chewing up your wiring and having fistfights in the wall next to your ear!

Okay, that's a totally valid exception. :) :)
