omg i love this post!! with the pride and prejudice references (i love the book dearly), your simple and very lovely outfit, the whimsical tone.. happy birthday and may you have a wonderfully delightful year ahead! :)
thanks chloé :) perhaps it has something to do with the criss-crossing of the buckled straps ;) i immediately grabbed this pair when i saw it at the charles & keith warehouse sale two years back.
you really should! i highly recommend it, but if you'll rather watch an adaptation than read the book, catch the 1995 BBC miniseries version on youtube (link here), it follows the book closely :) i don't even know which one i like better: the book or the show!
i just got myself a shabby CJ drawstring bucket bag from an online marketplace. it's now under my work desk. gotta air the muskiness away first.
cute shoes. texture's felt? where's this place? i like the liver wall against the chairs.
i've a love/hate r/ship for Lit when i was in school. i'm reminded once again why i dropped the subject after much deliberation. i still don't really get the fascination people "universally" get from austen's craft. but i do like what you wrote there, at the end of the post. long live the Lizzy spirit in you! (i also suddenly lose interest in philosophy. not too impressed with things that're too poetic and lyrical and conceptual now, i cannot explain why)
thanks for the well wishes! it's not really my birthday though, this post is backdated from april.
i never did do well in literature, but i do love reading classics. i guess the fascination you are talking about revolving around austen's craft has do to with the fact that in her time, she wrote what is now widely considered to be "chick lit", novels about romance and all those things women apparently so like to read about. in fact, you may consider pride & prejudice to be a reworking of the old cinderella tale.. probably the reason why it is so popular.
how does the drawstring bucket bag look like? any pictures? :D nope, my shoes are not felt, they are probably synthetic leather. the setting of my last two pictures is at shangri-la hotel, just outside the rose veranda.
i admit i don't really know what philosophy is. my knowledge is limited to confucius' school of thought.
becky dear, thank you :) i like this outfit too, it seems to stand for the kind of person i am. i took these photos at the shangri-la hotel, in the lift lobby just outside the rose veranda, toward the hotel suites. please get more rest, drink more water, eat well, and recover soon! ahhu sends his love.
