157 Dad's Shirt as Skirt, Revisited

Nov 27, 2009 21:19

26 February 2009- Nearly two years after I first tried wearing my dad's work shirt as a tulip skirt (read post here), the experiment finally makes it out of the house :) One evening, to a Fashion Disaster themed birthday party, that is.

nice shape and this length suits you alot. the bulges are due to the sleeves and the sleeves remain rolled up?

thanks, i love knee length skirts. the sleeves don't contribute to the bulge at the back as they are turned in at the sides to form the two kangaroo like pouches ("pockets") you see. the bulge is due to excess cloth at the back. a proper deconstruction could probably solve this!

thanks yina! i have to drape the folds at the back properly and keep my hands in my "pockets" for it to remain this way.. but since it is a fashion disaster party after all, i could afford to be lazy sometimes and didn't have to bother myself so much about whether it looked flattering or not! :D

thanks for the compliment but actually it was quite a safe option compared to the rest! :) there were many outrageous dressers that day, including a girl who incorporated tens of colours into her outfit, a boy who wore his underwear outside his shorts, complete with some jacket/vest thing and some captain's hat (that was quite a well-coordinated outfit!), another guy who wore a towel secured by masking tape wrapped around his body in different directions to fake a bondage dress, and someone else who wore his red shorts high waist style. my bf turned up in a traditional mandarin silk shirt with tiger and calligraphy prints paired with modern pants. too bad i have no pictures of the event.

thanks for explaining. sounds like the guys were much more adventurous! noticed you're wearing different shoes above. you went like that or you chose a pair of same shoes in the end?

they were indeed! probably because unlike girls, they have less reservations about looking ugly and ridiculous in front of everyone else. haha, you noticed :) i went with the same shoes (both ordinary black high heel pumps) in the end because it's not easy to walk in shoes of different heights! i would go hobblety hop, hobblety hopp...

i'm very tired!
are those the same heels in the previous entry? i'm very attracted to chunky heels. my other pair broke. unfortunately, it broke in the middle of my internship, so i broke off the other side - rather unglam. haha.
exams over? (:

yup angela! whatttt, how did you manage to snap off the other side, especially since it's a chunky heel? o_O with your bare hands? it must have been difficult to walk even after snapping off the other side right.. cos of the angle of the sole inclining upward to support a heel = not flat. where did you get your chunky heels from? i like high chunky heels cos i can have the benefit of longer legs, better posture and elegant grace without the pain and awkward strides. not 4+ inches high though, i can't walk for long even with a chunkier support ( ... )

i'm a random stranger but i noticed that you've a really creative mind!!! it's quite awesome.

the "skirt" you wear here looks just perfect! how ever did you manage to hide those sleeves like that! ahha.

anyway, may i ask how you make up those collages? ;) do you have a software?

hello, thank you :) i need to feel constantly inspired; it keeps me alive.
those sleeves were turned inside out so that they became pouch-like pockets at both sides of the skirt ;) of course it helps that the sleeves are rolled up in the first place, so they won't be sticking out underneath the hem of my skirt. it is this turning inside out of sleeves that gives the skirt a tulip sort of shape.

i manually combine my pictures to form collages using adobe photoshop. i've heard from a friend that photoscape makes collages easily and beautifully. i have yet to try this software though, you can check it out here: http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php
hope this helps!
