One more. I will give it one more, as this week was far better than previous, but I do not like Wade.

Yeah, it's really tough to keep watching a show where you dislike a main character (c.f. my entire relationship with Everwood), so I totally don't blame you! Ward is pretty generic-young-white-dude thusfar, but I'm hoping they'll develop him as the season goes on. I like him best when he's being trolled by the other characters, so I think they need to develop him more in every other area than his Grumpy Cat-ness.

YES TO ALL OF THE ABOVE. Idk, though, are we sure that's the only reason Skye infiltrated SHIELD? Part of me hopes so because I can't see how her relationship with the team would survive another betrayal, but I'm not ready to trust it yet. Guess it could be, though... why her past has been redacted by SHIELD is a decent enough plot line to continue with.

Did you see the preview for next week OH MY GOD I THINK I MIGHT ACTUALLY DIE. Also, that one Agent dude from Item 47! :DD

It sounded to me like it was? I mean, she was working with Miles on something, and he knew about the memory card, so it's easy to assume that her parents were what they were working together on. I really hope that there aren't any more secrets, because, yes, the team couldn't handle it. ALSO PHIL WOULD BREAK OUT THE DISAPPOINTED FACE AGAIN, AND I JUST CAN'T DEAL WITH THAT!!!

Yeah, there are a lot of ways they can go with that! And I don't think Skye's ~mysterious past should be something that's ongoing forever, so too many more hidden things might be annoying in that respect.

Ok so I just went back to the end of ep 2 and this is why I think Skye's Rising Tide secrets aren't over: the text she got read, "Rising Tide in a holding pattern. Planning to go dark. What is your status?" to which she replied, "I'm in." ...So, it sounds like the Rising Tide has a bigger agenda involving SHIELD, of which she is a part, and it's more than just her personal reasons of trying to figure out who she is. I think she gave that info up as the lesser of two secrets, as a way to distract Phil and make him think that was all she had.

Yeah, I just made a big post several days back for the first time in a while. I don't want to abandon LJ entirely, but often all my flailing-about-life urges are taken care of via Twitter. Sometimes you need more than 140 characters, though!

It does sound like that might be the case, doesn't it? She did say that she contacted Miles when she first got inside of SHIELD, so that could have just been a communication from him, using "Rising Tide" as a moniker so he'd be anonymous if the message was intercepted, though. Either way, I do like that she has ulterior motives, and didn't just join the team and automatically switch sides completely.

I KNOW! IDK HOW I'M GOING TO WAIT THAT LONG! We are having a group rewatch of this ep on Sunday, and of some other Clark Gregg-related thing next weekend (a movie? IDK), so at least there will be fannish things to do during the wait. How we're going to survive the December hiatus period, I have no idea.

Same same. I love twitter, but going to wincon made me miss LJ a lot, and the interaction I used to have with people over here. I wish it would come back, because I ♥ conversations, but I'm not hopeful ( ... )

This episode got me excited too! It put a human face and simple, human motivations on Rising Tide, which is not often done in spy shows. Also good was they did not draw out the reveal that Skye was a spy. Was worried it would go too long and become a thing.

I am very intrigued by the secret of Skye's parents. Kind of want fic about the team helping her search. LOVE the idea of Coulson and Melinda being her secret parents, though like you said, probably best left to fic writers.

That's a good point about the Rising Tide! Hackers as faceless masses is definitely a big trope, so I also like that they're subverting that! And totally agreed about the reveal. At a certain point, it totally would have been ridiculous if no one knew.

I want allllll the team fic! Having them come together to help her put the pieces together would be awesome, in fic or on the show. :D
