Have you ever been in a situation where people are discussing something around you and they inadvertently offend you? Really offend you? Like basically, with a fairly innocuous comment, insult you and hundreds of other people? And if you were to dare comment on it, they would either snicker at you and turn away or not realize what the big deal ( Read more... )

I think I can relate to this. On a somewhat different level, because by being both a witch and a tarot reader I quite often come into indirect (I'm not counting the people who have the nerve to say to my face) contact with people who laugh at or make fun of either tarot or wicca ( ... )

You got it exactly. I have this same reaction to other things as well, but the Buffy thing was just the most recent occurrence. I guess it's just a general "stupid ignorant people" thing. Am glad I'm not the only one. :)

And I can't believe that people would actually have the gaul to make fun of someone for something like that. Oh, I've seen people do it too, but to a co-worker? That just sucks.

Well like I said, they like to pick on Joe on a number of levels. This just happened to be the latest thing.

Previously they've made fun of him for liking Opera music, for being in the Army once upon a time, for having few teeth, for chewing tobacco, the list goes on and on..... (and just so you can see he's no saint either LOL)

I mean yuck, chew. And yuck, missing teeth. But still.....

True. Chew is absolutely vile. But Opera is cool. They shouldn't diss Opera!

I think you handled that situation rather well. As a fellow Buffy fan, if I had heard people talking like that, it would be hard for me to just walk away from it. I have a habit of being combative and I would have said something, although I don't know what. But those girls obviously had no idea what they were talking about.

ps. FAITH is on Angel this Wednesday at 9! I knew they had to bring her back sooner or later! I think I heard she's gonna be on 3 episodes of Angel and then 5 episodes of Buffy. I don't normally watch angel, but for faith I will.

Yeah, they were the type where you could just tell that they hardly ever knew what they were talking about. I'm glad I'm not the only one who would've wanted to say something to them in that situation.:)

And, dude, Faith rocks. I can't wait. And, yeah, that's what I heard about her being on BtVS/Angel. 8 whole episodes of Faith. It's gonna be awesome!
