Things are (still) happening!

Look, I'm just going to warn you now. There are going to be a lot of "Whee! Vegetables!" posts happening over the next couple of weeks. Until the semester ends I expect this to be just about the only thing keeping me remotely sane.

Great! Now, that behind us...

...more things are growing!

...everything is growing!

SO CUTE. And... glee! I prestarted our seeds using the papertowel and ziplock bag trick (finally put them in dirt today) and was getting very sad that they only had a teeeeny tiny root sprout going on, but seeing as how they were all tomatoes, I feel better now.

*beams!*

Haha, yes. When I told my mum and aunts I was growing tomatoes, there was the following exchange.

ME: So I'm growing broccoli and spinach and eggplant and tomatoes and...

ENGLISH AUNTIE: You're growing tomatoes?

ME: Yes.

MUM: From... seeds?

ME: Yes?

AUSSIE AUNTIE: ...oh.

I am given to understand that tomatoes are generally just total bastards to grow. Or by nature. They weren't entirely clear.

But I don't care, because I have a little green shoot! And some day soon I will have more vegetables than I can possibly use! The tiny green shoots are, seriously, the only thing stopping me from dropping out of library tech school, moving to Vancouver Island, and starting my own hippie commune. "See?" says the sane, adult, not-crazy part of my brain (see icon for what the rest of my brain has been doing for the past six weeks), "You can totally chill the fuck out by growing tiny vegetable seedlings right here in civilization. Now go write your fucking paper."

My adult brain is obviously not a sympathetic kind of person. o.O

Which is weird, 'cause back in Australia, my compost used to sprout tomatoes all the time.

I love your labels. For some reason they make me go "aww, so cute!" Possibly because they appeal to the Organiser in me.
