First day of class was... indeterminate. Had substitute instructor and spent entire class watching film re: female African filmmakers which actually went over-time and was thus paused before finishing. Class seems to be trying to focus on African women as authors, though half the texts are from China/India/the Middle East? Reserving judgement until
