This might qualify as high school math, if it makes you feel any better.

you'd have approx 10 000 people with the mutation, which gives you a percentage of 1.66x10^-6% or 0.00000166% ie VERY DAMN SMALL %

Okay, so clearly I need to change that ratio, as it needs to be at least a few million people. o.O

I'm off pretty much all next week... well, Monday through Friday anyhow, and I have my UPass now, so anytime then.

Also, for say, 2 million people out of 6 billion people to have the mutation, it would be about 3.33x10^-4 which is 0.000333% or 1/3000 births. I think I did that right.
