I love people who hate me… I really do. When you hate someone, there is a different sort of passion at work. Its this intensely emotional feeling that you know exists and by the virtue of inducing this feeling there is a connection that exists

One of my favorite quotes from Buscaglia goes:

"I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate - it's apathy. It's not giving a damn."

Though, I think Eli Wiesel put it more powerfully :
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of beauty is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, but indifference between life and death."

I think this totally agrees with your post :)

Ah indifference... yes, thats brutal stuff... Actually you are right that the worst.
This reminds me of something a friend once told me, he said "Its fine if they hate me, that still means that they are thinking about me".
