I'll admit I was weary upon hearing their plans for Dead Silence because yes, it sounded like something that had been done before, but then when I saw it was so different from Magic or Dolls or anything else. Very unique and original. The whole movie flowed very well together and the score for it (thank you Mr. Clouser) was terrific. The only really negative thing I can say about Dead Silence is my feelings on the lead actor are a little mixed and the little bout of cliche reasons for the Mary Shaw killings once they're revealed. The 'surprise' ending that everyone knew had to be coming (it's Leigh, isn't it?) was alright. I wasn't overly moved by it, but it worked. Have you seen it already? If so, did you enjoy it more than Saw? And if you don't mind me asking, how exactly do you know James or Darren? I know you work with a theater or something...

When they first started talking about doing DS, I was actually excited. Any 1950s-1960s horror film throwback is always welcome in my opinion. I think that I might have actually gotten my expectations up a little bit TOO high. However, I was pleased overall with the final product. (And yes, Ryan Kwanten, like Cary Elwes before him, turned in an abysmal performance.) I don't know how anyone could NOT have seen that ending coming. Could they have given the audience any more aesthetic cues? I wrote a three-page long e-mail to Jamie about the film. I think I'll post some excerpts on my LJ ( ... )
