THE 3RD SORTA-ANNUAL 64 ('CRAYOLA') CRAYON BRACKET!

Jun 27, 2008 00:00

It had to be done.

As this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Box of 64 crayons being introduced by Crayola, it is only fitting that the 64 ('Crayola') Crayon Bracket also be reintroduced.  I know that some of you may be thinking that crayon brackets have been played out - but you all simply have lost your inner child and, really, I feel sorry for you.

But for the rest of you who are cool and who love crayons as much (if not more) than me, I bid you welcome to the official website for the bracket!  Most of you know my rules of voting, but to recap:

(1) This tournament will proceed in bracket-fashion (NOT a one-time poll).  Each matchup in the bracket is simply crayon vs. crayon.  Vote for one of the two crayons.  "No crayon" votes (i.e., abstentions) ARE permitted.  The losing crayon will be eliminated from the competition, while the winner will move on to the next round.  Voting will proceed by rounds (Round of 64, Round of 32, Sweet 16, etc.) until there is a winner.  There will be a championship and 3rd place game in the end (the 3rd place game being reserved for the losers of the semifinal match).

(2) You are permitted to submit a round of votes only once.  No stuffing the ballot box!

(3) Preferably, votes should be cast via LiveJournal (you can leave comments even if you are a non-user), but I will accept e-mail and IM votes as well, so long as you get them in before the due date and time set for the round.  I will make said due date and time for each round.

(4) In the event of a tie at the end of a round's voting, I will submit the tied matchup to one person who has not voted and happens to be online at the time of the tabulation of the votes.  Theirs will be the tie-breaker vote.

(5) HAVE FUN!

Errata:

* Crayons have been seeded according to the results of the last 2 crayon brackets and the results of the national poll, taken in 2001, ranking all 120 colors included in Crayola's biggest box.  For these rankings, please go to:
http://www.crayola.com/colorcensus/bureau/overall_view_120.cfm

Go there if you're also interested in learning some more about each color, and/or if you want to see a swatch of each color!

* The colors included in this bracket all appeared in the last bracket of 64 - there are no additions or substitutions.

* Each bracket is named for the top-seeded color therein.

DUE DATE AND TIME for ROUND of 64 VOTING: I'll give a while for this first round.  Voting for the ROUND OF 64 will close on SUNDAY 6 JULY 2008 at 11:59:59 PM Central Standard Time.  That gives you about a week and a half to VOTE and go tell it on the mountain, over the hills, and everywhere, that the CRAYON BRACKET IS HERE!
