You can tell me I am a bitch but honestly I don’t care. I am confused as to why people who were given sufficient time to evacuate before Ike hit did not do so.  I have lots of friends who live in ClearLakeCity, Webster, Baytown, Pearland, and downtown Houston. The idjits that were sitting at the sea-side saloon and having beers and saying 'bring it on'...probably should have been allowed to drown.

People who are not physicaly or mentally capable of leaving, or people whose spouse or parent had to stay in the area as members of the red cross (or law enforcement, fire fighters, hospital personnel, or whatever)...I can cut a little slack.

Still...it'd be nice to hand those folks a bill for the helicopter ride at the end of it all, instead of passing it along to the taxpayers.

I wondered that myself. The talking head on the news said that many couldn't afford to evacuate again, they'd done that with Gustav, and had to stay home. My question about that is where were the buses and the big military planes to take them out like they did in New Orleans? Is there some reason that one city gets this help but not another?

Plus... people never think it's going to be as bad as it'll be.
