Byun Baekhyun was a really simple kid; he was an elf and he was part of the royal family. He was the elven prince of Rivendell and, sadly, he also was the elven prince that had been born under the wrong stars.
During his short life, the only source of happiness he has known was his mother. That’s why as she brushes his bangs away from his face and sings to him with a reassuring smile, he’s sure absolutely nothing could go wrong.
However, we must not forget that little prince Baekhyun had been born under the wrong stars. With that in mind we can explain why he’s suddenly being separated from his mother’s arms, with a whispered “Please take him away from here, Kyungsoo” and a kiss on his forehead.
He knows that the one carrying him is Kyungsoo, his guard, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to roll back to his mother’s embrace. The only thing this grants him is getting his face covered with his own robes. “Please close your eyes, my prince”
With only half of his face covered, he can see that his guard is carrying him to the border of forest that surrounds his chambers, separating him from the castle. He tries to understand what’s going and looks for answers in his guard’s eyes. Kyungsoo has always had the most expressive eyes, being able to warn Baekhyun when he was speaking a little bit too much or just being too noticeable - that’s why what he finds hiding under his guard’s hood makes his stomach drop.
Kyungsoo looks desperate and scared and he suddenly feels the need to look back, because he needs to know, he needs to see what is making him so scared that they need to run away.
“Where are we going?” He asks, struggling to get on his feet. “Can you please put me down?”
“Once we arrive to the boat” Is what the black haired elf answers him.
Baekhyun stiffens, because it can only mean one thing. “I order you to tell me where are we going.” He fights again to get down, this time successfully jumping from his guards’ arms and landing softly on the ground.
His silver eyes are shining under the moonlight as he stares at Kyungsoo with enough intensity to make him sigh in defeat. The other elf holds him by the shoulders and slowly turns him around; allowing him to see what was behind his back “Rivendell is no longer a safe place for you, my prince.” Is what comes as only explanation.
Baekhyun stares in horror at the scene in front of him. The place where he was born; the city that was supposedly eternally protected by the Bruinen, was in in flames. The trees that surrounded the city were already croaking and falling under their own weight as the fire slowly consumed them.
He feels scared, but he knows he needs to look at the castle or he might lose his lost chance. Lifting his eyes, beyond the trees, he sees the castle completely lighted by the fire. There’s a reddish shining coming from all the windows. Even the garden his mother cultivated with all her love is on fire.
His mother had loved that garden as much as she had loved him; his mother who had sent him away from the fire; his mother-
“Why are you only taking me?” The little boy asks, this time with his eyes closed, trying to extinguish the red shine from them.
“- orders from your mother”
“Did she return to the castle?” He asks, knowing he needs to be brave.
A nod “Your father requested both of you to be lead back to the castle, my prince.”
Baekhyun couldn’t avoid his eyes from watering at the answer, but he quickly straightened.
“We’re joining Jongin, right?” Of course they were, Kyungsoo would never leave the taller elf behind.
“He’s waiting for us with a boat.” He says before pulling him to the shelter of the woods for a little longer.
It’s in the back of his head that maybe the fire will reach them, but soon the river is in sight and it only takes him a blink to find his other guard, already waiting for them by the small port, with everything packed, ready to leave.
Once they’re close enough, Jongin immediately reaches out for his diadem and throws it to the river; “We don’t need people knowing we’re with the prince” he says as he passes a dark cloak over Baekhyun’s small shoulders, in order to cover his silk clothes.
Baekhyun looks in wonder as the tall boy walks to Kyungsoo and holds his chin, preventing him from looking at the castle for any longer. Kyungsoo’s eyes are empty, but Jongin’s words bring him back to life “We need to leave or they will notice he’s not dead.”
Kyungsoo takes the cloak Jongin is offering him and helps Baekhyun to get in the boat. Of course they would never leave without Jongin.
When they’re all settled in the small boat and he has taken a last look to what had been his home, he understands that he will never be able to see Rivendell again. Even if he wanted to make all the questions floating in his head, he decides this isn’t the right moment to process what had happened. Knowing that the calm waters of the river wouldn’t allow them to reach the ford of Bruinen until the next morning, he opts to lie down and rest his head on Kyungsoo’s lap, allowing the moon to illuminate his skin and reflect pure silver light in his eyes.
Before he could notice, he had already slid into a dream filled with a sky full of red stars and calm rivers taking him to safety.

The first time Chanyeol saw him was during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of his conception. Everyone had been too distracted by the party to notice the sound of horns that announced the arrival of someone to the Woodland Realm, but Chanyeol wasn’t everyone and his curious amber eyes wandered just in time to see the guards opening the gates of the hall to allow a small company to enter.
The company had only three members; and much to his surprise, one of them was a young elf. They had white frost all over their travel cloaks and they seemed tired and malnourished. Looking closer, he could even make out the little snowflakes resting all over the boy’s delicate eyelashes. By all ways, he tried to see the boy’s eyes, but he seemed to be extremely interested in the golden floor.
The two older members introduced themselves as Jongin and Kyungsoo, members of the royal guard from Rivendell. Then, they introduced the brunet boy as ‘Prince Baekhyun’ and explained they had come to Mirkwood in hopes of getting asylum there.
Chanyeol learnt immediately after that that Rivendell had been devastated and the rest of the royal family perished in the flames when they tried to run away from the castle.
People says that bad news travel fast, but everyone seemed to be shocked about it. A whole city disappeared, only three elves had survived and no one knew about it. Thanks to that the little brunet boy had to cross the misty mountains during the winter just to find a safe place to stay. That was probably why he refused to look up. He thought he had nowhere to go, that there was no hope for him. Chanyeol felt the overwhelming need to do something.
He turned to his father with big, pleading eyes and pulled at his sleeve softly; his father acknowledged him with a smile and ruffled his hair before speaking to the other elves “Prince
Baekhyun, lord of Imladris, you and your company are welcome to stay in the Woodland
Realm.” He then signaled his counselor to get close to whisper something in his ear. “Little prince, you can follow Luhan. He will take care of you while I talk with your guards.”
Chanyeol saw the little boy turning to his companions nervously, as if reluctant to let go, but they only pushed him to the blond elf that was extending his hand to him with a kind expression. Right after Luhan left the halls with the little prince, his father asked Jongin and Kyungsoo to follow him and they were left to continue with the party.
Only then, he realized he never got to see the face of the boy clearly.
Later that night when his mother sent him and his sister to sleep, he spent a lot of time thinking about the petite boy. First, he tried to imagine which color his eyes were, then tried to picture the boy smiling at him and lastly he tried to think about ways of making everything real.
If Baekhyun had lost all his reasons to smile, he would do his best to give him everything back.
During the next weeks he barely got to see the three elves from Rivendell. He knew they were staying at Luhan’s house and that Baekhyun was getting along with Luhan and his wife. He also heard that the guards brought news that worried his father and that he was sending an exploration group to Rivendell, but nothing was of his interest until he heard a conversation between his parents about sending Baekhyun across the sea, to the Undying Lands.
He knew he had to hurry, so when spring arrived, he asked his father about the other prince and did his best to express his concern about sending him away “Father, we’re his family now. Sending him away would be betrayal from our part and he’s just getting-” before he could continue his father raised his hand to stop him and gave him a crooked smile.
“No need to worry Chanyeol. Your little prince is staying,” Then his father openly laughed “but there’s no need to hurry. You need to wait for him, let him adapt.”
Chanyeol didn’t understand what his father meant by ‘waiting for him’, but he guessed it was about him approaching Baekhyun.
So, he waited for the right moment to come; and then waited a little longer and kept waiting until life showed him a signal to finally get close to the boy.
Sadly, time for elves runs on a different way it does for us.
_
The first time Chanyeol got to see Baekhyun’s eyes was during their first sword lesson. Where he expected melancholic eyes, two bright stars were shining to him as they were paired for practice.
It took Baekhyun a couple of minutes to make the taller boy fall to the ground as he playfully pressed his sword against his neck, but it only took Chanyeol a few seconds to fall in love with the boy who had so easily dominated him. As he wondered how did he manage to ignore Baekhyun’s beauty for almost five years, the latter offered him his hand to help him stand up.
“Thanks, Prince Baekhyun” He said as he stood, still holding the smaller hand, refusing to let go so soon.
In answer, the brown haired boy rewarded him with a blinding smile “There’s no need to use formalities with me, Prince Chanyeol”
“My prince,” He emphasized bringing Baekhyun’s hand to his chest “I’ll drop all formalities if you promise me to do the same thing.”
There was a glint of mischief forming in the eyes of the brown haired boy, but as he was about to answer both were reminded where they were by the obnoxious laugh of the other kids.
After the rest of the demonstrations were done, they were separated in groups. They were in the same age rank, but their abilities were different. And while everyone was making fun of him for losing against a smaller boy, he only felt sad because he wouldn't be able to stay close to the beautiful boy, who right now was gracing him with a smile.
Chanyeol had clear that his position as prince kept him away from other kids and from the normal kinds of social interaction, but even if he wasn’t able to totally understand his feelings, he had pretty clear that the warmth, slowly growing in his chest is thanks to Baekhyun’s smile and the way his eyes twinkle thanks to the light filtering between the trees.
And maybe now is just not the right time yet.
_
It’s not like Chanyeol is useless in combat. It’s just that after years he has learned that his forte is different from the one the shorter prince has. While Byun Baekhyun is all grace and speed; Park Chanyeol is more muscle and senses.
Both are wonderful at one on one fight, but Baekhyun uses his sword as a perfect extension of his body, not to mention that he’s a small target, and that he’s always in the front lines. His appearance might be delicate, but he fights like he means it.
Chanyeol instead, has hunting instincts. He likes to attack from privileged places and only gets frontal when it’s the moment to finish his prey, he calculates every move as he sees the world running under his feet; he’s an archer.
But right now they aren’t beheading the scum that dares to contaminate the Middle Earth with its presence. They are having a special training.
They were sent to Dol Guldur, the stage of an old battle, divided in the usual two teams with orders to cause as much damage as they can to the opponent; a meaningless blood bath to reminisce war.
Baekhyun as always is the leader of one team. Chanyeol is used to it, to always leading the opposite team, but he still can’t fight the bitter feelings that the image of the brown haired boy taking a golden helmet causes him. As he takes his own silver helmet, he wishes that he could be in the same team as him for once. Just to avoid acting like a fool for once in his life.
In the second their commander blows the horn, Baekhyun lifts his head and looks at him straight in the eyes. After years of this, he knows that staying caged for too long inside those beautiful, silver eyes is a terrible idea, so as soon as he can he breaks the connection; immediately running away and failing to notice once again the way the shorter man had been caught in the same way inside his own amber eyes.
Everyone said Chanyeol had the best sight, but he was too blind for the most obvious things.
Dol Guldur was once called ‘the hill of dark sorcery’, now it’s nothing more than a decaying fortress with crumbling black walls. The whole place screams death trap and their green robes provide no camouflage; he knows that finding a safe place is primordial.
He soon finds himself on one of the highest towers. He has the best position and there seems to be a storm coming. With all that and the wind in his favor, his senses are at his best.
As always, Baekhyun is the first one he finds -- he just had to follow the path of fallen elves to see him.
Once Baekhyun is located, the game really starts for Chanyeol. In a record time he manages to put down five elves from the opposite team and, when they got too close to the brown haired boy, he shoots three of his own partners -- it’s funny how love works.
Let’s say that over the course of the years he developed the habit of running to Baekhyun’s rescue; needed it or not.
He liked to feign ignorance about how it started, but the incident was still fresh in his mind. A couple of years ago, when they were named captains, he found the golden team planning mutiny against their leader -- apparently Baekhyun was too short for their liking.
Problem number one: As their prince and future king, he couldn’t allow that kind of behavior; problem number two: The fact that they were stupid enough to go against the other prince made him feel like kicking all of them out of his royal guard; and problem number three: if they dared to touch one of Baekhyun’s brown hairs he would personally throw them to the darkest dungeon the Woodland Realm had to offer.
So, that night, when they went for Baekhyun, he went for the back of their knees. One by one, they had to kneel in front of the shorter prince thanks to the arrows embed between their tendons and ligaments.
Once they were all in the ground, Baekhyun had stood as magnificent as ever and directed a cold smile to them. Chanyeol remembers the soft voice Baekhyun had kept during the brief interrogatory, but he remembers more clearly the look of pure betrayal he had when he found that the one who started everything had been the silver haired elf kneeling in the front.
The silver haired elf didn’t even dare to look at Baekhyun as he pressed the end of his sword to his left cheek. “As the instigator of a rebellion against your leader, you deserve to be marked as
traitor.” Where the only words he directed at the elf before, with the softest pressure, he marred the beautiful, pale skin of the boy that he had considered as his brother. After that he sheathed his sword and left.
If they weren’t clear about the position he and Baekhyun shared, after that night, they all had learned that treason would be persecuted and punished. Sehun, the only son of Baekhyun’s adoptive family, would be the best reminder of it.
He never talked with Baekhyun about that night. If he had been angry or found it offensive, he kept it to himself.
No too long after that Chanyeol found himself doing everything at his reach to help the other prince. When it reached the point of becoming obvious -- no one made commentaries about it, because they were no one to judge their prince.
But coming back to the present, to the black fortress and the heavy storm atmosphere, the development of this training is by far the worst Chanyeol has ever seen. Right now, he’s the last of the silver team and Baekhyun is currently finishing with the last of his own teammates; one of the youngest kids who was stupid enough to frontally attack him.
The elf with grey eyes, apparently not interested in wasting time, hits the kid in the back of his head the second this one tries to charge against him. The poor boy falls like dead weight and Baekhyun takes the chance to look at the tower with a wicked grin that disconcerts Chanyeol.
“Are you coming down Chanyeol?” The older elf shouts “Or maybe you want me to go up there.”
He immediately feels cold sweat making his copper hair stick to his forehead and nape. This is so wrong. He never expected Baekhyun to beat half of his comrades unconscious and casually lead the training to a final fight between the two of them. Maybe he should try to shoot him now that he has the advantage, but at the same time Baekhyun has that weird smile and maybe he’s been waiting for this for a-
“Oh, come on! I know you only have one arrow left!” comes from below the tower.
His eyes open almost comically as he moves his hand to the quiver in his back and brushes his fingers across, in effect, he only has one arrow.
“We should make it one on one” Baekhyun yells again and this time his voice has a funny intonation, “I know you want it this way too.”
Chanyeol’s arms fall limp to his sides. Baekhyun really had power over him. And he doesn’t care if this is a game of making the mouse go out of his hole. If the other boy wants to beat him, then he’ll allow him to do it.
He throws his bow and arrow, along with the knives in his boots and his short sword. He stands in the ledge of the window and with a clean movement he jumps, praying that that the fall will knock him unconscious.
Of course he’s not that lucky. He lands a couple of meters away from the shorter boy, who actually looks like the cat about to pounce over the little mouse, but being this close now allows him to notice other things… like the way Baekhyun’s chest is ascending and descending rapidly, and he has a weird expression - Chanyeol is not sure if it’s anger.
They look at each other for a while, no one who to disturb them, until the rain finally reaches the ruins and Chanyeol finds his voice again. It’s probably coming out all quivery, but he still manages a “What do you need from me, my prince?”
By the time Baekhyun finally answers, their cloaks are totally wet. “Nothing, I just-” He interrupts himself and starts to get closer “I just wanted-” The copper haired boy starts to walk backwards.
“Do you even know how long I’ve waited for this?” He mumbles when Chanyeol’s back finally touches the wall. And he feels like dying because he’s getting so close. So close that he doesn’t even feel like running away anymore. He’s ready to take any punishment the older boy thinks he deserves.
Or maybe he should really to run away, at least put of some distance between the two of them, because now Baekhyun is pressing himself against his chest and much to his surprise is gripping the neck of his cloak to pull him down and then closer and closer until their foreheads are pressing against each other. Then Baekhyun stretches a little bit more his neck and that their noses are touching and he can feel the humidity of Baekhyun’s breath over his lips.
Just as he thinks about bringing his own hands to hold the shorter boy, because apparently this is actually happening; Baekhyun’s grip turns stronger, lifting him from the ground and slamming him against the wall.
He doesn’t even get the chance to fight back when the shorter boy is already pushing him to the ground, reducing him with no effort - and that’s when he hears it, the clicking of boots. He feels Baekhyun getting himself of him to salute their commander with a solemn voice. How can he sound so normal while he’s still having regressions to that first training?
He manages to stand and a wobbly “Commander Kim” is what comes as greet.
“What in the hell were the two of you doing?” Both of them shiver at the angry tone he’s using; as almost graduates they are not used to be yelled at; as members of the royalty it almost hurts their ego.
Commander Kim removes his helmet and directs an angry look at them “And you dare to call yourselves elven princes? Your own people will never be able to trust you.” He pauses for a second before adding “Get ready to leave early. If you have the imperious need to prove yourselves then I’ll give you the chance.”
Once they can’t see his silhouette anymore, Baekhyun sighs and lets himself slide down the wall. He looks so utterly defeated that he starts to feel guilty. He walks to the prince and offers him his hand. Baekhyun seems hesitant, but he still squeezes his hand to help himself to stand.
“Hey Baekhyun” He can’t stop himself saying it. “What were you trying to do before Jongin arrived?” He knows he should have kept the question for himself, because now the other boy is turning red and he looks dangerous again and he should walk away before -
Baekhyun steps on his foot, making sure the heel of his boot almost breaks Chanyeol’s fingers “I was about to beat you, Prince Chanyeol.” He spits.
It hurts and he wants to cry, but he still dares a chuckle “Of course you were, my prince.”
_
Chanyeol barely gets any sleep that night. He spent the whole night trying to understand what had happened. Baekhyun had said he was about to beat him, but he knew it had been something else. Those silver eyes had a peculiar shinning, different from mischief the older boy generally showed. And there had been all the pulling and the almost touching of lips and maybe, he thinks, he’s not alone in this.
Sacrificing your own comrades during a real battle deserves to be punished with death, but when an angry boot kicks him awake as he hears from Jongin’s mouth what’s his punishment about, he suddenly feels that death is a more merciful option.
Both princes roll their sleeping pallets in total silence and take the bread his commander offers them. He still has that wicked smirk that’s making his blood boil.
Chanyeol thought they would be asked to carry the baggage, or that maybe their rations would be shortened, or that they would do the night vigilance; but this is worse, because with the first rays of the aurora, they take their bags and walk together to the forest.
“Since you seem so unwilling to work together and to act as members of the royal family, what we need to do is strengthen the bonds between the two of you.” Commander Kim says and the pats them in the back.
_
In his almost 21 years of life, Byun Baekhyun has passed what not many elves do. He went from prince to pariah, then to homeless boy and back to prince in a really short space of time. Many years ago, when he still was a little caged singing bird, he had truly believed that even the universe saw him as filth, but now he’s sure everything is different. He likes to think that if all stars were born from the fire, then the annihilation of his people and the destruction of Rivendell meant exactly that for him.
You see, he was truly a prince; there was royal blood flowing in his veins and he was highborn, but he had been rejected at birth by his father. He felt no loyalty towards his old house. He was a forest elf, raised in the darkness of the Woodland Realm and he’s not even a bit scared of the forest. It’s all the time he’s supposed to spend with Chanyeol what’s making him worried.
He still remembers the day they arrived to Mirkwood; the warmth of the halls of the elven king and the even warmer eyes of his son. He remembers keeping his head low during the whole interview, even when he felt those curious eyes trying to peer at his face.
Right after Chanyeol’s little intervention, he was sent under the wing of the king’s right hand and suddenly he obtained what he never had and everything had been thanks to Chanyeol. That’s why saying that he grew incredibly attached to the copper haired boy would be staying short. He adores him.
He remembers dedicating his every chores day to him; from doing his best to adapt, to learning all the customs, getting used to actually being wanted and learning how to use a sword. Everything had been in order to please the boy.
The problem is that, as you can imagine, time flows on different ways for elves and it took him years to realize that his adoration actually meant something stronger.
When their military training started, he thought he would finally get the chance to spend time with the other prince. From day one it became obvious that there was a connection between them. What he hadn’t been expecting was for Park Chanyeol to be one of the slowest and densest elves ever.
During their teenage years Chanyeol gave him so many demonstrations of total devotion and so little signs of actually wanting to take the initiative, that all the frustration started to accumulate in his chest, then it started to heat up and one day it went out of control when it started to boil and he woke up sweating and screaming the name of what, apparently, he could never have.
That’s pretty much how he decided that even if the prince wanted to take it slow, he would be the one to take the first step. He had been desperate at the moment. His decision was rushed and it lead them to a punishment and he’s scared of all the time he’s going to spend alone with
Chanyeol, because he already feel how the frustration it’s starting to boil again.
Surprisingly, spending time with Chanyeol is being pretty easy. He still can feel the pangs of embarrassment flood his body when he thinks about the last day, but the taller boy is being a little bit too dramatic.
Chanyeol is trying by all ways to stay away from him and he wants to pull at his hair, because, hell, they are alone for once. This could be the perfect moment to get rid of all the frustration, but the other is still acting as if he would crumble down if he looks at him for too long.
The density of this part of the forest makes it impossible to tell the hour, but when he considers it’s midday, he suggest to stop and have lunch. Not even 24 hours ago he had been brave enough to start physical contact, so he can be brave again. The quietness of the forest, along with Chanyeol’s is getting suffocating.
“We should talk about what happened yesterday” He says as he passes him a piece of bread and some jerky. He’s generous with the portions; after all he knows how hunger feels like.
Chanyeol gulps and he can’t look away from his adam's apple “And what happened yesterday? I mean… besides you almost breaking my face.” He says with a nervous chuckle.
Baekhyun sighs, and sits beside him in the ground “Listen, Prince; we both know I wasn’t really trying to beat you. I just want things to be clear between us.”
Chanyeol keeps munching, he looks hesitant when he finally speaks again “Then what were you trying to do?”
“I was trying to kiss you.” He answers bluntly. The goosebumps forming in Chanyeol’s white skin only make him feel even more encouraged. “I’ve liked you for a while. It’s just that I was getting desperate.”
“What was your plan yesterday?”
“- to show you that I also didn’t care about breaking the rules for you and then to kiss you under the rain.” This time Chanyeol turns to look at him; wide, refulgent amber eyes leaving him breathless and he decides to take the chance.
“You know I like you?” Baekhyun doesn’t answer, instead he extends his hand, pressing his fingertips against Chanyeol’s neck and he actually leans into his touch, he decides he can’t resist it anymore. He treads his fingers in Chanyeol’s copper curls and pulls him close; the other leans down the rest of the distance and suddenly their lips are touching for the first time.
Chanyeol rests his arms by his sides, caging him. His lips are chapped and he thinks about swiping his tongue over them, but decides against it. He doesn’t want to ruin this.
None of them move for a while and then, instead of lips pressing against lips, their teeth are clinking together and their noses are bumping, because none of them can avoid the stupid smiles making their lips curl up.
This is too ideal, and maybe they are both thinking about it, because they lean to kiss again at the same time. At this point it doesn’t matter how dense the other prince is, because now everything is clear between them.
_
Actually reaching the next level doesn’t take them too long. Just a couple of days after their first kiss, Baekhyun finds himself counting all his regrets in life as he presses the taller boy against a tree. Right now there’s nothing that can stop him from getting his tongue inside Chanyeol’s throat - except Chanyeol getting his own tongue inside of his.
Once the taller's back can’t go any further, he doesn’t waste time to slide his hands to hold his neck and bring him down. Chanyeol’s is getting bolder too; he can tell by the way he grips his hips and lifts him slightly off the ground. He claws his nape in retaliation and pulls at his bottom lip with his teeth to make him open up for his tongue.
If kissing the prince for the first time had been heaven, he’s not sure what curling their tongues together is supposed to be. They are past the nervous giggles, they’ve found that both of them are bubbling in want and that their make out sessions are probably set up to heat quickly.
It’s the brown haired male the one who pulls away first, smiling. There’s no need to rush things.
The following step is an important one and they still have time to think about it. They have the
whole travel back home to learn and the tricks and get to know each other a little bit better. For now Chanyeol’s dumb smile and red lips are more than enough.
_
By the time they reach the forest road, both of them are slightly eager to arrive to the castle. They might have different reasons, but they are glad to be on known ground.
It’s been only a few days, Baekhyun is used to it since he spent months in the wild, but
Chanyeol is not used to being this ‘dirty’.
“I have branches all over my hair.” He grunts that night when they are lying down in their palettes, near the road. Baekhyun only laughs and reaches for the other’s reddish curls to disentangle some branches. He thinks the taller elf looks adorable like this.
When he wakes up the next morning, he finds that the sun is high in the sky and that Chanyeol has managed to roll down from his palette and is now all over his vital space, softly breathing against his ear.
He’s sure this is what real happiness feels like.
_
They find the Enchanted Stream by the sixth night and Chanyeol suggests camping there, by tomorrow at this hour they’ll be in the Elvenking’s halls and he wants to spend more time in the forest. He thinks the main reason is that the other is eager to get in the water, so he agrees.
He’s about to remove his leather boots when he sees Chanyeol untying his shirt and pants. He knows the blood leaving his brain can’t bring good things so he starts to walk away and not daring to look back to yells that he’s going to pick up some wood for the fire.
He stays away until he considers the copper haired elf will be out of the water. To his horror, he comes back to a still very naked Chanyeol, who is waving at him innocently. Baekhyun swears he’s about to have a heart attack- does he even know how tempting he looks with his hair wet, sticking to neck and his skin all pale under the moon- and suddenly hunting something looks like a brilliant idea.
“Hey, I think we should have some meat tonight.” He says.
“I can try to get some fish; do we have some kind of web?”
“It’s not necessary,” he jumps “I’ll look for something. I’m not a fan of fish.”
Chanyeol’s pink lips form an ‘o’ when he only walks to take his bow, he’s not as good as the other boy, but this way he’ll waste more time.
At night animals get more wary of their surroundings, but the moon is full and the forest is gleaming with soft silver light, he can see everything. He climbs a tree, the highest he can and scans the area. It doesn’t take him long to find a herd of deers sleeping in a close clearing, under an apple tree.
There’s a big one sleeping right under a really charged branch; the alpha probably. There can always be a new alpha, he thinks as he points at the ramification and makes the fruits hit the head of the animal. It awakens and tries to stand, carelessly stomping all over the others who were sleeping close. In his panic, it starts a stampede. Baekhyun can only feel disgust towards it, he takes another arrow and this time he aims for the deer’s head. The arrow goes perfectly across the left eye of the animal.
“Such a leader you were.” He mumbles as the animal falls and the rest runs away to hide in the woods. He skins the animal and only cuts the parts they will eat that night. The crows can eat the rest.
He goes back to their camp and finds Chanyeol starting the fire, thankfully with his pants on.
“What did you kill?” He asks with wide eyes.
“A deer. It’s good meat.” He answers scratching his cheek, there’s dried blood there. He’ll take a bath too, once Chanyeol goes to sleep.
“We could have fished something you know? It’s easier.”
“Red meat is better.” He says curtly as he puts the pieces of meat to smoke.
“Don’t you like deers?” The taller boy asks as he gets closer, “My father likes them.”
“My father did too.” Baekhyun starts, he’s whispering now “They’re not always loyal and docile animals.”
Chanyeol probably noticed something in his voice, because now he’s throwing an arm around his shoulders and resting his chin in his shoulder. His voice is deep and close to his ear when he speaks again “You don’t need to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
He turns his head, seeking the warmth of the prince’s eyes and he responds with a peck.
“I’ll tell you everything one day, Chanyeol.” He promises.
The dinner was obviously satisfying, because Chanyeol dozes off immediately, relaxed from all the swimming and his full stomach.
Baekhyun’s silver eyes stare at him, breathing through his lips until soft snores start to come instead. He giggles and once again thinks the prince is too adorable for his age, but maybe is just that he sees him with love.
He walks to the riverbank and removes his clothes, leaving them in the sand. This is only a stream and the waters are calm and low. He has to crouch down to wash his hair; once he’s done with it he swims to a rock in the middle of the stream to sit and remove the dried blood from his skin.
It’s probably past midnight and the moon is so big that he can clearly see Chanyeol sleeping on his palette. He’s sure that the other man is about to roll down again, because he’s moving in his sleep. What happens next makes him slide down of the rock and back to the water.
The prince has turned on his back and is now bucking his hips. Baekhyun can hear him grunting and he wants to drown. This is too much and so at the reach of his hand. He can bring himself to look away, because seeing Chanyeol having wet dreams is probably the closest he’s getting to being intimate for now.
In retrospective, he should have seen it coming; both of them are young males with needs. He has had a couple of not so pure dreams about the boy, but he never thought he would have the chance to see the copper haired boy like this; sweaty, trying to grind his hips against something and moaning his name - wait what? He looks up and buries his fingers in the powder like sand from the river. There, a few meters away, is the object of his affections, growling his name with a very noticeable bulge in his pants.
“Fuck everything” He mumbles as his resolve totally melts. Chanyeol is dreaming about him and he got hard just from looking.
He crawls to the bank again, not bothering with his clothes as he goes by the side of the taller elf and looks at the dark spot forming in his pants green pants. His pride is being taken away by the river as he straddles the younger elf and delicately unties his pants. He shoves his hand inside and Chanyeol jolts awake.
_
Chanyeol is not sure if this is still part of his dream or if he’s awake, because a very naked Byun
Baekhyun certainly seems part of one of his darkest dreams. The fact that the older boy has a hand inside his pants, rubbing his length, makes him think that he might be dead.
However the feverish feeling and the scorching in the pit of his stomach and of course
Baekhyun’s seem too real. Never before, during his dreams he’s been able to see everything so defined; from his skin glistening with silver droplets and the way his eyes are as effulgent as stars to way shadows mark the curvature of his hips and the dip of his navel.
Then Baekhyun bends, his face hovering a few centimeters from his face, and a droplet from his hair falls over his nose. This is real. Baekhyun is really naked and straddling him and Chanyeol grips at his marble hips, earning a soft moan.
“Were you in the river?” He whispers, tempting himself with pressing his lips against the shorter boy ones.
“Yeah, until I heard you moaning my name.” The hand that was now just resting inside his pants presses down “Mind doing it again? This time awake, please.”
“What if you moan mine instead?”
“I already did. I touched myself while I was looking at you, but you were in you dream world.”
Chanyeo’s grip turns firmer and rolls them over, now he’s hovering over Baekhyun and the mischievous shining is back to his eyes. He moves his right hand over the expanse of
Baekhyun’s abdomen, going lower and lower, until his fingertips are sliding over the brunet’s erection.
Baekhyun’s neck arches “Who were you fucking in your dreams, prince?” His voice is still terribly firm and Chanyeol want to change it.
He gives him a crooked smile and presses his lips against his ear, his voice coming as a low growl “I was dreaming about you riding me, Prince.” They know they are turning the term into something tainted, but none of care now that the shorter boy has started to rub himself against his thigh.
Chanyeol wasn’t lying about Baekhyun’s skin. It looks like alabaster and everything feels so soft under his palms; he wants to touch everything, to don’t leave an uncovered space, because he’s waited enough. And when he thinks about it, about the possibility of having had to wait for even longer he feels scared, because elvish lives are too long to be lived without love.
“Baekhyun, do you want to do it?” The question lingers for a while in the air, before the other elf lifts his legs and circles his waist.
“If you back up now I skin you alive.” Still so brusque; nevertheless he turns malleable in the second Chanyeol lifts his leg over his shoulder and holds his ankle to kiss the inside of his thigh.
He sucks bruises from the back of his knee up to his navel, skipping the most important part. He knows he shouldn’t be teasing the prince; he knows he can snap at any moment, yet he wants this to last as long as possible.
Chanyeol goes up again to Baekhyun’s face and kisses his cheek bones, the tip of his nose and under his chin. The brunet groans, skipping his lips was cruel, but he has other ideas. He looks for his pulse point on his neck and latches his teeth there; biting down until Baekhyun’s pretty fingers tangling in his curls. Once the skin breaks he moves to leave marks in other places. When his lips touch the back of his head, the shorter boy moans and pulls his hair hard.
Chanyeol thinks that later, maybe the next morning, if Baekhyun feels like it, he’ll get some marks in return from that pretty mouth of his
Baekhyun’s aggressive rutting of hips starts again and suddenly his pants feel too tight, even if the other had untied them earlier it feels too constricting. He disentangles himself from Baekhyun’s arms and legs and bares himself to the eyes of the other.
Baekhyun sits up and looks in wonder what he refused himself earlier that night. He extends his arms and Chanyeol goes to him, holding his head to help him lie down again.
They kiss for a long time, Chanyeol traces the borders of Baekhyun’s lips and pays especial attention to his cupid’s bow. He’s trying to take everything slowly, but the brunet in his arms is impatient and doesn’t waste time to suck his tongue inside his mouth as his arms sneak to the lower of his back and then over his buttocks. This is the first time they have done something so intimate and the friction of skin against skin is glorious.
Chanyeol releases one side of Baekhyun’s neck in order to take a hold of their members. He flicks both crowns, gathering the precum and expanding it over his fingers to start pumping them together. The pumping dies soon, when the grinding of Baekhyun gets too messy and sighs against his mouth “Chanyeol please do something”.
We’re already doing something, he wants to say, but he knows what Baekhyun means. He disentangles himself from the arms of the whimpering elf once again and it’s painful, because he wants to stay warm and secure forever, but he needs to work.
He lifts both of Baekhyun’s legs over his shoulders and sucks a line from his bottom lip, down his neck and chest; then to his navel, curling his tongue inside his belly button and finally nuzzling his crotch. Bakhyun’s legs clamp like a vice around his neck and he laughs. Responsive Baekhyun is the best thing he’s ever seen.
From then he takes things seriously. He sucks the head of his dick inside his mouth; this is his first time and he doesn’t know how deep he would be able to take him in, but he still tries to go down as far as he can as he bobs his head and makes up for the rest with his hand. When
Baekhyun’s hands are back to his hair, he knows he’s close; however he keeps going trying to don’t gag and to create enough suction. Once Baekhyun’s grip turns stronger and he’s probably pulling out some strands, he’s sure the brown haired boy is about to come. He pulls out, immediately circling him with his hand and pressing a hot kiss against Baekhyun’s lips.
“Come, my love.” He whispers and the shorter boy screams. What he doesn’t expect is Baekhyun’s palm against his cheek, slapping him - hard, at the same time as he arches his back and comes all over his hand.
“Chan- Chanyeol,” He stutters, “-sorry” but he’s far from angry. His clean hand is pressing against what probably is a red imprint of Baekhyun pretty fingers and all of a sudden he remembers he’s still hard.
“Love, please turn around.” His blood is not running to the right pole anymore and the other prince seems to be still out of it. He can’t wait anymore and lifts Baekhyun’s hips to turn him on his belly, he’s still malleable in his hands and he loves it.
“Do you still want to keep going?” The hand turning around to pull at his curls is all the answer he needs. “Just don’t kill me, please.” He says as he gets on his knees and gathers all of Baekhyun’s cum that he still has in his hand. With one hand he spreads Baekhyun’s cheeks and lowers his head; he doesn’t suck immediately, instead he presses his lips against Baekhyun’s opening as if kissing him, then he separates his lips his tongue barely brushing and Baekhyun is already whimpers.
With all the courage he has, he brings his cum stained hand close to Baekhyun’s opening and dips his tongue inside at the same time he pushes in his middle finger. Baekhyun collapses and Chanyeol removes his tongue to leave kisses up his spine instead.
“Lift your head, Baek.” He breathes against his nape, but the other only hums as Chanyeol’s fingers keep stretching him open with his own cum. It doesn’t take long before his fingers curl up and touch that spot inside and Baekhyun’s hands are now down the palette, clawing in the dirt and he’s thrusting against his fingers and Chanyeol realizes he can't take it anymore; he's been hard for too long.
A fresh kiss against Baekhyun's nape and he's removing his fingers to prepare his length with their makeshift lube.
Baekhyun turns on his back again and puts his legs over Chanyeol's shoulders. He's opening himself for him. "Do you need help?" He teases and Chanyeol remembers who he is with.
He presses the tip of his dick against the already undulating hole and waits for a signal. "Do you want me to slap you again?" And there it is.
He thrusts and tries to go as deep as he can and then he stops. He wants to savor the feeling of being inside the person he loves for the very first time. He's sure Baekhyun is doing the same, because he has his eyes closed and he seems to be in complete concentration.
The brunet opens his eyes and looks at him for a while. He has that face again, the one he once mistook as anger; now he knows its desire.
"Have I told you how much I love your eyes, Chanyeol?" He asks as he starts circling his hips, as if trying to feel all the borders "The color they have is as warm as the sun. Chanyeol you are as-" He cries when the other starts to thrust again, but he seems totally decided to finish what he was saying "You are as warm as the sun, Chanyeol"
He feels his eyes scorching, he wants to cry, so he hides his head in the crook of the smaller's head. He feels loved.
"And what about your eyes?” He manages to say after a while “Looking at them is like seeing the moon and all the stars in the sky"
"The moon is only cold light" Baekhyun retorts.
"I don't feel cold right now" He moans as he enters Baekhyun, this time with the intention of fucking him at earnest.
The older boy is holding onto his biceps to gain some leverage and kiss him. This kiss has a different taste, it's not exploring anymore. This kiss is love in its purest state; just the overwhelming need to be closer and closer, to become one and merge in the same entity.
He reaches between them to stroke Baekhyun's dick, wet and curling up his stomach thanks to the rubbing of their bodies. The combined pleasure is turning to be too much for him as he starts to clamp around Chanyeol. He seems eager to make the younger cum first, because he's thrusting back the best he can at the same time.
Chanyeol loses strength and buries his head against Baekhyun's chest and keeps thrusting with ruthless abandon until he's coming with Baekhyun's name in his lips and everything Baekhyun
- his skin, his warmth, the way he smells like the earth and home, his silver eyes and his beautiful hands.
He shakes in the smaller's chest until his spasms stop. Baekhyun combs his hair the whole time, patiently waiting for his turn.
Once he can hold himself up again, he crouches down, between Baekhyun's legs and takes him as deep as he can in his mouth at the same time he introduces two fingers inside of him. He doesn't last long either. His eyes flutter closed as he releases inside Chanyeol’s mouth and this time he does scream his name loud and clear.
He won't allow anyone call him "Prince Chanyeol" again.
They fall asleep almost immediately and when they wake up Chanyeol jokes about not going back to the castle, forgetting they are part of the royal family and staying in the forest forever. That they can hunt and recollect fruit and that they’ll be ok, because they are elves.
Baekhyun pecks his lips and tells him that he will gladly disappear with him, once their punishment is over.
It's Sehun the one who opens the gates for them and the shorter prince only dedicates him a polite nod. Kyungsoo is waiting for them with the next part of their punishment. "I can see it's not necessary anymore, but Jongin said the two of you are assigned to the main doors of the hall. Your guar starts now, actually."
They have been guarding the gates for a couple of hours when they hear the horns announcing the arrival of strangers. Baekhyun is trying to get on his tiptoes, to get a better look and Chanyeol can only laugh at his attempt "Do you want me to describe you the company, prince?"
Baekhyun's smug smile after stomping on his foot should be funny, except it slides from his face too soon. In the second the company is in sight, his eyes stop in the elf leading the group; he’s tall, with long blond hair, silver eyes and a king’s crown.
Baekhyun unsheathes his sword and gets ready to kill the elf in the front. In reaction he takes an arrow and points at the same person.
Then the elf speaks, his voice is raspy as if ancient or unused for a long time, “Why is your sword against my neck, son?”
Chanyeol lowers his bow, but Baekhyun only narrows his eyes. He regrets not explaining that he had been serious when he suggested him that morning to run away from the castle.
A/N: For Fergie, who one day cried about wanting baekyeol as elves, and for everyone who encouraged me or helped me. Saying that this is my first time writing smut and, in general, writing something not for school makes me want to throw confetti.
As you can see this is pretty much just the part one of this au. The idea is to post the second part along with this one, once the contest is over.
If someone has any kind of question or complain you can you reach me through tumblr (baek-hyun) and I’ll answer privately.
