No question about it: this month, moving is upon us. No, we don't know yet (as of this posting) exactly when that will take place. Hence, everything after about the 15th (or certainly the 20th) is totally up in the air. We have officially signed a Sept. 1 lease on a NYC apartment less than a mile from Columbia. Anticipated moving date has accordingly been pushed to later in August than originally intended, hopefully in the 25th-29th range, but we still don't have a definite date.

We were down in NYC this weekend looking at apartments -- saw about 9 places in 2 days, ranging from a few nonstarters (tiny 1BRs) to a couple that we would definitely be happy with. However, at this point we're expecting to go back down in 2 weeks to view a second round, since we really would prefer an August 15 lease rather than August 1 anyway ( Read more... )

I called to wish my mom a Happy Mother's Day, and had a nice chat (my stepfather is briefly home from post-knee-surgery rehab to spend the afternoon and have dinner with her).
