Rosh Hashanah 5778 prep

Overall I've been too crazed to journal, but today is weirdly slow* at work so I am taking a few minutes.
*(Edited to add: I suspected it was too good to be true. Of course the shit hit the fan on about 3 different projects as soon as I finished posting this, so, we'll hope I get out on time.)

So I asked at Slichot last week if I was doing the Torah service too and was told no. Finished Shacharit - went pretty well, I hit all my "marks" - go to sit down and then told, no, you are doing the Torah service. And I got flustered enough to start "Bey Ana Racheitz" (Shabbat)... once I started, they didn't stop... facepalm.

Oh well. Such are the travails of a lay-led minyan. How about you?

Ha! I'm sure I would have auto-piloted in the same exact way, if it were sprung on me. Good on you anyway.

Mine went fine; a few small brain-blips where I had to scoot through the text to get to the next "hook" I could remember an actual melody for, but I doubt anyone much noticed. I should note that they do heicha kedusha (q.v. for those playing along at home) for RH Shacharit, which cuts down considerably on the amount I had to learn. But for YK they do a "full" repetition (which means, still skipping a bunch, with part of the rest in English, but at least a token amount of repetition ( ... )
