It's just a very interesting place to be in. It's sort of the opposite of what usually works for you: you generally need both belonging and freedom to thrive. But it's not a totally bad thing, either.
I'm sorry to hear it but I hope the transition is a good one to whatever comes next. It sounds like you've found some peace and strength.
Selfishly, NYC is much easier for me to get to than Boston, and I still have people there I want to introduce you to... so hopefully I'll see you there soon.
So yeah, it was one of those laser-targeted moments. You know it's reached me when I am sitting there in shul with tears streaming down my face... and in a cleansing way, not a bitter way. Somehow Rabbi Sebert manages to do that to me a lot.

On a spiritual level, this seems connected with the concept of liminality. (There is more to it than Wikipedia can capture.)
Meanwhile, I signed up for a six-week Russian class, Tuesday nights starting June 4. And I'm also planning to try to make contra dancing tonight.
