people part two: patients

I came to medical school for real people stories. Blogging by nature is self-involved and I usually have little to write about other than myself, which in college I found to be the main thing I wanted to change about my life. I enjoyed reading your blog. It can be depressing when confronted with retreating intellect. I am encouraged that many of our elders are cognitively vibrant and capable of generating new ideas.
I am a retired geriatrician and have spent many hours with older patients and their families. Dealing with SNF residents was often discouraging, but usually balanced by office encounters with some sharp and funny oldsters. Do consider Geriatrics, There are more of us everyday.
