Talking To People

When I was young I didn't like talking to strangers, the ones kids are allowed to talk to like librarians and store clerks. My mom would encourage me to be less shy by trying to get me to ask them where was the bathroom, did the library have a book about X. I did my best to hide behind her pleading for her to ask for me. I believe we're given the opportunity to help others sometimes just with conversation. It's hard to talk to our families as casually as we do with strangers due to our emotional history with our family members. As we get older (and sometimes as in your case bolder) we branch out to see if others are like ourselves and our family. We're always comparing others to those people we have "experience" with (like our family). I was pretty much the opposite very outgoing as a child and as I grew older I didn't like socializing outside my family. I'm still that way pretty much I hate talking to large groups of people in general. You could call it not liking the "limelight". I've always liked helping others as much as I was able to.
