We are proud to announce the first
chalion_ibra fic and art event, The Gods’ Delight: Poetry and Theology Challenge, which will run throughout November 2010.
As Cazaril says, the gods delight in poets ... songs and poetry, being the same stuff as souls, can cross into their world almost unimpeded. So what better prompts could we have for our first challenge than lines of poetry? And we think we’ve found the perfect poet, since
katyhasclogs remembers LMB likening Cazaril’s own poetry to John Donne (though she can’t for the life of her find the link now...).
Please sign up below by Friday 29th October and you will be issued with a set of prompts which will include:
A few lines of poetry
A Chalion God
An object
You are free to interpret your prompts any way you like to produce lots of lovely fics and art!
Please let us know in your comment whether you are a writer or an artist (or both) so an appropriate tag can be created for you.
As with all challenges there are a few rules:
Rules
1. Entries can only be posted to the community once posting is declared open on Monday 1st November until it is declared closed at midnight PST time on Tuesday 30th November 2010. Entries will not be accepted at any other time.
2. There is no minimum or maximum length for fics. If you want to write a drabble or several drabbles, a short ficlet, a monster 10k fic or a multi-chaptered epic, then feel free to go wherever the gods inspiration takes you!
3. You are free to interpret the prompts any way you like and to create any kind of story including AU or crossovers. However this is a Chalion community therefore the Chalion universe and Chalion characters must be the main focus of the work. Therefore, you could, for example, have The Doctor visiting Chalion but you can’t have Cazaril visiting modern day England with The Doctor.
4. While we accept submissions of any rating, those of a NC-17 rating or with strong themes will be accepted entirely at the discretion of the mods and warnings for content must be clearly marked in the headings. The mods reserve the right to review all submissions for appropriateness. If you are unsure of the rating or the appropriateness of your work for this community please contact the mods.
5. We will not tolerate plagiarism. If it is discovered that work submitted to
chalion_ibra is the work of another author or artist it will be deleted from the community. The mods reserve the right to consider the banning of any member who is found to have plagiarised.
6. Please post your work using the following headers and place the body under a cut:

Please also tag your post with your writer or artist tag (which is writer: your username or artist: your username), challenge: the gods delight, and the relevant genre tag (note that your mods are British so tags will always use the British spelling i.e. the humour tag includes the “u”).
7. We would be grateful if you don’t post your work elsewhere until the event is over on 30th November. You can, of course, post a link from your own journal. When you do post your work elsewhere we would love it if you could include a mention that it was created for a
chalion_ibra challenge and, if possible, provide a link to the community!
If you have any questions or comments please leave them at the
page-a-mod post and keep this post free for sign-ups.
