Poor Cazaril just cannot escape pain, even once he's left the galleys! I could understand the novelty of the rain ending quickly, but I think this does a good job of saying quite a lot about his state in few words.

It really feels like a this-just-isn't-fair moment that the feeling of rain firstly enhances his sense of freedom, but then serves to reinforce his physical and mental frailness. The gently falling 'languid drips' seem to almost lull him into a false sense of security - very nicely done but so sad!

That's all exactly what I was going for, so I'm very pleased you think it worked! Thanks for reading. :)

Brr, poor Caz, as those soft little raindrops gang up to soak him through and turn the road into mud. :( That journey back from Ibra must have been so hard, in the state he was in -- which is exactly what you've shown here.

Maybe this is why people don't write fic about Caz's journey to Valenda: it's all misery and woe!

Thanks for reading and commenting! I'm very glad you...well, not enjoyed...feel I captured the misery and woe as it should be, LOL.
