Y'know, the hardest part about working (with people) at the Writing Center is tact. You read these papers, and there is a certain line between what's considered proper english and what stands as the reader's voice. The hard part is where to draw that line, and how you tell the student that they've crossed it.  Maybe that's more like objectivity or ( Read more... )

School does that the entire time you attend it. Then you get punished if you don't follow the idea of the moment, point out a glaring point of logic, or "insult the teacher" by bringing up what they said last week. Americans wonder why our education system sucks.
