Title. What A Wicked Game To Play
Notes. Okay, I don't even know what this is. It started out as a general mix. Then I started to focus more on the relationship between Nina and Thomas because they are angsty and doomed from the start which is just my kind of ship, but I found I couldn't steer myself entirely away from the characters of Lily and Beth and their respective relationships with the aforementioned. The character of Beth actually really left a lasting impression on me, despite her status as a fairly minor character in the grand scheme of things. She gets totally screwed, which is probably not an uncommon occurrence for an aging~ woman in dance, but is nevertheless really tragic. During the party scene, when Thomas calls her his "little princess" once and then again, both times it has an obvious effect on her, and ugh, I could cry tears of blood for her. Then Lily predicts Thomas will soon be calling Nina the same, and when he finally does? Actual chills. And then there's Lily, who, as the essential catalyst for Nina's derailment, I obviously couldn't ignore in the process of making this. Basically, the goal of this is capture all the desires, insecurities and jealousies that make this love rhombus~ as deliciously fraught with tension as it is.
