It is a pretty big part of what keeps us alive though. Even if we have a bad habit of wanting exactly what is worst for us.

It may be true that desire can be one of the greatest tools of the darkness...

... But without it, the world would not advance. For it is desiring of better things - all sorts of things - that motivates people to act, to invent, to improve.

That is the trouble, in the end. One must take good with bad in measure - not just there, either.

Without context, of course, it is hard to understand what you mean by desire being troublesome... But I shan't bother you for that, unless you care to share.
