[At first, when he wakes up, Edward doesn't understand, because a sudden weight on his bed is a very unusual thing. His first instinct is to assume it's an enemy and lash out, but he manages to refrain, turning his head just enough to see the silhouette. There's no mistaking that figure, even in the dark. What was Sigmund doing?

He can't think of a good answer, especially since Sigmund is just sitting there and not, say, changing or putting on his shoes or something, so after a moment he calls out, trying not to sound sleepy about it.]

...My lord...?

[Oh. Sigmund turns his head a little to glance over his shoulder, so that he's silhouetted in the faint light. Edward, I need your bed. No, he can't do that. Well, there's always the couch.]

Did I wake you?

[Edward pushes himself upright, waking up fully now that he's certain it's Sigmund. There must be something wrong.]

...It's alright. Do you need anything?

[Sigh. He stands, brushing his hair out of his face. If he says anything, Edward will probably throw himself on the floor so that he can have his bed; but if he doesn't, Edward will worry when he leaves and doesn't come back tonight.]

Go back to sleep. I'll be on the couch.

Not really looking to be a pupil but I thought we could meet up, sometime? If you're still game for a little show and tell, of course.

Yes, if you wish. [A pause before the next part appears.]

But I must ask that you use restraint.

If you're not feeling so hot, we can always postpone?

It's merely a minor complication. I can no longer feel pain.

Sigmund, may I speak with you?

[No it won't.]

If you wish it.

I do.

Shall I come to you?

No. You are in your room?

There's no need to apologize for something beyond your control, especially something as dangerous as what has been happening recently. You weren't injured by the trees or the butterflies, were you?

... No, I wasn't.

And when a leader or a teacher promises something, he owes it to those in his care regardless of circumstance. I trust that Saturday will be suitable?

I'm glad to hear that.

But I also believe that it is necessary for a leader to look after his own health. After all, even a king can't lead anyone if he is too ill to do so.

A king who chooses his welfare over that of his people is a poor king. Even so, I am well. My health is of no concern.
