[Edward wastes no time with responses, hurrying over from the smithy to the apartment and rapping on Sigmund's door when he arrives.]

My lord?

[Good grief he moves fast when he wants to. Sigmund was counting on a moment or two more to get his head together, but he opens the door when Ed knocks, face just as unreadable as usual.]

Edward. [That head-tilt towards his desk chair by way of greeting is absolutely an invitation to come sit down. How else would someone express these things?]

[When Sigmund calls him, Edward comes.

He enters the room as directed - invited, commanded? It's really all the same to him - and sits by the desk, curious and a little concerned about the summons. He knows he's been acting strangely and Sigmund's far from stupid. Not knowing what this is about is making him nervous.]

[This is not an easy conversation to have. It's taken Sigmund the better part of the day to work himself up to it and he'd really rather just run away from it, which is why he closed the door and eliminated his route of escape.

Edward is acting oddly and he is absolutely convinced it is his fault. So he stands in front of Ed, shoulders squared, hands behind his back, attempting to not be anxious because he thinks fanboys might smell fear, and...]

I owe you an explanation for my behavior.

["I wish to court your mother". Right. That will blow over juuuust nicely.]

My skills do not need judging. [You didn't tell me she was living with you, you dirty so-and-so. But... asking for a beating. Fine.]

... But I will indulge you.

[Svala sees that up there, Sigmund. Be nice.]

How goes your endeavor, Sigmund?

[Sees what? He did nothing. Totally within bounds.]

Less well than I hoped.

It is difficult to garner respect so quickly. [And with so little social clout to work with. Poor guy.]

I will persist. [Having nothing to work with seems strange and wrong.]

It seems like you've already gotten some of your plans underway.

How have you been settling in?

Well enough. Better, with a goal in mind.

That's good to hear. A steady flow of goals can do wonders.
