So I have been corresponding with my cousin on my paternal side... well, I still don't know how he is related to me, but we are thinking either second cousins or first cousins once removed (that would mean his mom is my first cousin). He is very open and happy to help me find my bio dad. I hope that if and when he and his mom do that the biological

I hope this journey leads you to some answers :)

My dad and I did 23andme and one of the people who contacted my Dad was looking for his sperm donor. Based on the guys location and the estimated relationship between he and my father, we located his probable biological father very quickly. A couple of phone calls and we'd tracked down the male cousin who had donated sperm in Australia. I don't know if the guy ever decided to contact his probable father (he was open to being contacted) but at the very least we were able to answer some questions about the family for him :)

very cool! How long did the process take? I am also speaking with a second cousin, who- with his mother- has contacted her cousins in the city of my birth. One said it was not him, but it could possibly be the other, unfortunately, the other has passed away. My second cousin asked if I wanted to correspond with my potential/possible uncle, and that his mom is going to look for photos.... but I haven't heard back from him since last week.

On our end it was maybe a couple of days? My dad called my Uncle Ralph because Uncle Ralph had gone to Australia to visit the family branch there and had phone numbers. Uncle Ralph called the Australia branch, they made some calls and found the man who had donated sperm back then and then the phone tree reversed back to my dad and we emailed back to the guy looking for his donor family. I was quite surprised at how quickly they took the info and came back with a likely match! I'm afraid I don't know anything beyond that as we never heard back again.
