Chapter 1
“Yah! Stop!”
Jaejoong shouted as the man ran away, his eyes bulging with surprise until he gasped and fell. He shook uncontrollable, his eyes dilating and foam started to form in his mouth.
“He’s having a seizure! Quick! Call the paramedic! Now!” Jaejoong barked into his walkie- talkie while Junsu and Yoochun held the now arrested perpetrator into custody. He didn’t stop shaking and once the paramedic came, he finally went unconscious.
“Dammit!” Jaejoong cursed out loud and ran a hand through his hair.
Another one.
It was the fifth one this month and people have been dropping like flies ever since a notorious drug came in existence and practically all the victims had the same side effects.
Seizures, fainting, nausea, and restlessness.
The most particular about the case was, they all didn’t know what happened.
Some saying once they took the drug, they blacked out and didn’t remember how they even ended up in certain places or how they even commit the crime unconsciously. Just as if they were all controlled by some entity and before they knew it, they were all already in jail once they came back to normal conditions.
It was as if they were all spellbound, just like the drug’s name.
“Hurry up and gather the evidence so we could go back to headquarters.” Jaejoong ordered, casually observing the body of Kangin or his real name, Kim Youngwoon, who they have been tracking him down for a few days now. The squad was able to pinpoint him as one of the ‘customers’ who obtained the drug mysteriously, however, they were too late to notice that he had already made intakes of the drug and fled.
“Ehhh, why can’t you gather some of the evidence too, hyung? I bet it’ll make it a lot more fas- “ Yoochun complained but shut up immediately when Jaejoong turned, narrowed his large eyes and crooked his eyebrows at the other man. He didn’t even have to utter a single word and everyone on the squad team already knew his default implication shut-the-fuck-up-or-I’ll-report-your-lazy-ass-and-you’ll-get-a-fucking-defiant-mark-on-your-record.
And so, Yoochun shut up.
“Hyung” Junsu called. “Come and see this.”
Curious, Jaejoong followed and Junsu brought up a plastic bag with what seems to look like a pill in it.
“Do you think this is the drug?” He asked and Jaejoong continued to observe it carefully. “It could be. Good work, Junsu.” He patted him on the shoulder while the other man smiled and Yoochun made a gagging sound in the background but stopped to whistle when Jaejoong turned around.
“Ok, finish gathering the evidence. I’ll meet you two back at HQ.”

Once he reached back to headquarters, Jaejoong was immediately called in.
“So you found the drug, Lieutenant Kim Jaejoong of Squad number seven?” Jongwoon asked, looking down at the report that was handed to him just a moment ago.
“Yes, we have found evidence of the drug Spellbound on Kim Youngwoon’s body and it looks like he had already taken some of the drug beforehand. He is currently in the medical room, receiving treatment and then he will be forwarded for interrogation once he has recovered.” He finished, looking straight to avoid his boss’s gaze after hearing the news.
“Good work, Lieutenant. Hopefully, we can find the root of this ominous drug and put an end to the case soon. I guess you can go home for today.” Jongwoon suggested, leaning forward to get a good look at Jaejoong’s shoulder tensing.
“With all due respect, sir. The case isn’t finished yet and we must analysis the drug to get to the bottom of this. We still haven’t found who is distributing it. Therefore, I don’t think I can go home in peace with the criminal still at loose.” He swallowed, reciting his principal and duties just like any loyal cop would do because he seriously believe that justice would prevail in the end and so would he.
Jongwoon looked away from Jaejoong, please to hear his answer. “Very well then. Continue your work Lieutenant and be sure to catch the criminal as soon as possible.” He turned back to Jaejoong, meeting his subordinate’s gaze and smiled.
Gladly, Jaejoong gave a bow. “Yes, sir” and left, closing the door behind him. He breathed out a loud breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
“Well, how did that go?” One of his colleagues, Hyunjoong questioned with an extra cup of coffee at hand.
“It went well.” Jaejoong heaved, as if he had just ran a marathon when he in fact he was probably physically unmotivated to do such a tiresome task. Well, he didn’t say he couldn’t possibly run a marathon and being in the police headquarters wasn’t a place he would be in if he couldn’t do it.
Hyunjoong handed him the coffee and Jaejoong drank it pleasantly. “Ahh, that hit the spot. Thank you Hyunjoong.” He took another sip and asked. “How is the analysis coming along?”
Hesitantly, Hyunjoong took a drink from his coffee after he blew it a couple of times. “Not much. The tablet doesn’t look any different and we may need to take it down to the lab to inspect it a bit more.” He mused, watching his cup of coffee like it was the most fascinating thing. “It might take two or three days, but if we speed it up a bit. We can get the information to you by tomorrow morning.” He smirked.
If it was one thing Jaejoong liked about the other man, it was the fact that he always knew exactly what he was thinking and promptly helpful in time the team needed him. Especially since, Hyunjoong was one of the best special analysts they had on the team. The man was a genius since fourteen and he was immediately placed in the Special Task Forces for his stealth analytical skills.
He could even be the chief executive if he wanted to.
“Thanks for the help and the coffee. I’ll treat you to a nice lunch next time.” Jaejoong negotiated and Hyunjoong smiled, please to hear. “Don’t work yourself too hard, hyung. You’re growing old, quick.” He laughed when Jaejoong made an attempt to hit him but missed and made a leave for his office instead.
When he reached his office, he took off his jacket and placed in on the backrest of his chair.
Closing the door, Jaejoong loosened his tie and sat down on his desk, turning on his computer monitor so he could begin some mild research on Kangin. Even though he was already caught into custody, he wanted to make sure the man didn’t have any other medical problems before they brought him into the interrogation room.
Not only that, he had to write up his report to submit to his boss about the progress thus far and all the evidence and what not Kangin had been holding onto before he collapsed.
He turned to a picture at the side of his desk and closely studied the people in it.
It was one of the few pictures he had with his best friend, Jung Yunho and he hadn’t talked nor seen the man for ten years now.
He was one of the few friends he had back in the police academy when they were both training to be the best cops in all of South Korea, however, the dream was only a dream and Yunho had suddenly disappeared.
Stretching, Jaejoong put down the photo and focused on writing his report about Kangin.
“I’ll catch you. Soon.” He muttered to himself, and then sighed.
It was going to be a tiresome day, that’s for sure.

“What?!”
Jaejoong cry onto his phone, grabbing the attention of the rest of his squad as he slammed the phone back onto the receptor. “It’s gone!” He said, signaling Junsu and Yoochun with his hand to come along as he informed them the new information as they sped through the building.
The drug they obtained just yesterday was gone, missing from the lab last night when it was placed in storage to cool before making the necessary analytical procedures.
Great. Now they just lost their only evidence thus far, the only thing to pin the work behind the crime and now it’s just fucking gone.
Not only that, they also just lost their chance to get to the bottom of who the fuck was behind all of this.
Fuck.
Now they went back from one step forward and have to find another lead to this damn spellbinding drug.
Once they reached the lab, Jaejoong flashed his badge around, even if the people didn’t already know him by now- he walked up to one of the analysts for some confirmation.
“Changmin. What happened?” He asked hastily, watching the other man get up from his seat and away from one of the telescope. “Hey Lieutenant, you look unwell lately. Have you bee- “
“What happened to the drug?” Jaejoong persisted and Changmin simply gave him a frown. “I was out yesterday and one of my assistances said they put the drug in the storage room until I came in today. Then when I did, it was gone.” He claimed sternly, eyeing Jaejoong’s own narrowed eyes before the other man asked.
“Didn’t Hyunjoong bring it over? Can we see where it was stored?” The lieutenant proposed and Changmin only kept his gaze at him before he gave in a nodded with a flick of his hair. “Fine, but everything must be kept just the way it was when you go in and do not touch anything.” He said, directly his look at the other two cops, Junsu and Yoochun who just blinked at his uninteresting threats.
Changmin and his assistances headed to the storage room first, unlocking the door then stepping aside to let the cops in.
The room was cold, too fucking cold if you ask Jaejoong but he didn’t voice it because that would just give Changmin something to talk about once he left the damn laboratory.
Idly, they all looked around, scanning the evidences until they reached the capsule where some evidences were required to be frozen in lower temperature in order to get it down to the very last substance.
It didn’t take long before Changmin stepped in, punching in another set of codes on the capsule for higher security, which would require someone who understood every since guard holding the drug to retrieve it or…
They never stored it at all.
When Changmin opened the capsule, a fog of cold air came pouring out from the highly frozen pressure and revealed a few items held within, all in plastic and with Junges to indicate which item was which. There was an empty container with the drug Junge Spellbound labeled on it and Changmin picked it up, handing it over to the lieutenant.
“This is where it was stored.”
Jaejoong put some gloves on and took the container immediately, observing it all over, evidently with the tablet missing. He placed it in another plastic bag and told Changmin. “I’ll bring this to the DNA lab. We’ll see whose finger prints these belong to and we will have to talk to your assistances as well. Thank for cooperating.”
He finished and headed out of the freezing storage room with the rest of his subordinates until he phone began ringing.
“Hello. Hyunjoong?”
“Hyung, I found out something about Kangin. He’s finally talking.” He spoke cautiously onto the phone and Jaejoong awaited for him to tell him what he had just discovered.
“What did you find? Did he say where he got the drug?”
“No it wasn’t the drug. He said he talked to someone afterward he got it and that’s when he started to act strange.”
“Who did he talk to?” Jaejoong demanded while Junsu and Yoochun eyed him wearily after the mention of ‘drug’ came out of his mouth.
“There person he talked to was…” He heard some rustling on the other end, probably from the movement of paper flipping and that’s when Jaejoong heard what Hyunjoong said afterwards that made him froze.
“Jung Yunho”
FYI: Jongwoon=yesung
A/N: Ahh, this is an adaption from a WooGyu fic I just started and since I’m uncomfortable writing in other fandoms, I decided to make a YunJae version to keep my YunJae sanity alive. :’D It’s basically the same thing as the WooGyu version except altered a little to keep their own traits intact. Don’t want them going totally OOC now would we? ;) Also, I never see much police!jae chasing Yunho so all the more reason to adapt! xD
Updates are pretty much after each chapter I update on the other story so if you follow that one along, I know you’ll get a heads up, but I just prefer to have a YunJae story out there. :’D
Also, another long note: I can’t seem to make a poster for this one despite making one for the other one. Originally the plot was suppose to be used for YunJae, but stated in the other story I had to use it for something else. Lol. So yeah, this fic hates my posters ;___;
Question, comments and criticism are welcome! \o/
