It really wouldn't need a special copy of the play to summon the Sycorax - I think the nature of the ritual itself would force her into being as an anthropic manifestation of the resistance to performing the ritual.
[Also, on a semi-related note, have you seen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead? It's what happens when a group of vampires (Black Court equivalent) hold a ritual performance of Hamlet with two human dupes...

Oh, I agree with you about not needing a special copy of the play (other than the hack/interpretation that Prospero needs to use for his ritual purposes), but "monster trapped in a special copy of the play -- i.e., in Billy Shakes' own hand" was an important part of the first draft that Them That Stand Above Me decreed it stay in. So, I tried to run with that a bit.
