that's why i prefer your critiques, chad - because i know you're going to be brutally honest about all of the right things. more importantly, you're going to give me justification about why you have the opinions you have.
and i agree with fred. this is exactly what you've been needing - a game you produce for fun and not profit.
Part of the value I think I offer you as your publisher is not only publishing your stuff, but also removing the publication imperative from your world-view. If we *need* to publish something, we'll talk about that. But otherwise? You signed up with us so you could be freer to pursue your art in the way you most enjoy. So really all I was saying on that car ride back was -- hey, go do that.
"Independence" means that you do things for your own reasons. You don't answer to anyone.
I'm chewing on some games that might not be publishable in a large-scale way, myself. I really like making products, so they might get there, but some are clearly not going to make that.
On the other hand, that chat with Jared about Xenon: made it really start to look like something people would want.

That game needs focus or breadth. The rules need to be tools the players can use to make things happen. Right now, I don't see where to gain traction.
