"just when you think you're all right, I crawl out from the inside"

Did I just say, in my last post, that I was healthy? Ok my blood still is. But I'm suddenly completely down with a haematoma in my right ear and an infection in my left one! Nice. On top of that I'm developing tonsilitis as well ( Read more... )

I understand your frustration entirely. I had allergy tests about 4 years ago and learned how much I was allergic to. I am allergic to more than not. I need to get new ones done, but I must wait until I get health insurance. They are REALLY expensive!

What are these tests called in English? I'd really like to know. They put small drops of a liquid that contains what you're allergic to on your arm and then prick through the drop into your skin. So is it also "prick test" in English? They're so unfair when you're not allowed to scratch for about 15 minutes when it's itching so damn badly!

I have heard it called a "patch test," a "prick test" and a "skin test." I am not sure what the clinical title is! I actually had the RAST test done last, which uses something in your blood to test the allergic reactions.

So the rast test must be what I also last had done. My mum even explained me how they measured it exactly but I'm not sure anymore now. But those results seem to differ actually. Because the blood test said I'm 0 allergic to mugwort (which was in the top three when I started the desensibilisation). However, according to the prick test I am still quite allergic to it... even if it's not as much as it used to be.

Well it's been very hot over here at least. Not all the time but we've had weeks with up to 42°C here... but now watch the irony of the whole thing: when it's hot and dry my pollen allergies come out but my new acarians allergy goes especially well with rain and humid weather. No matter how I put it, I lose. I'll have to live with it, so I guess I better start getting used to it.

those tiny things send shivers down my spine anyway... and now I'm even allergic to them! I wonder what nature has against me sometimes...

In one of the seminars about allergies I attended, one of the professors said that every single person is allergic to something but most people don't know about it because maybe they don't even ever get in touch with whatever they're allergic to. So you're probably not allergic to something common which is a very good thing :)
